Looks like I haven't updated this profile since my first Tacoma way back in 2010!

    Anyways currently a 2017 TRD O/R 4x4.

Here's a few more pics of the carrier.

Is all of the weight supported by the receiver? Years ago I had a receiver mounted spare tire rack on my CJ-8. After a bit of off roading (were not talking dirt roads here) The receiver actually bent. I think is was the momentum of the weight coming down when the rearend would hit bottom.

No not all the weight is supported by the receiver. I specifically went with rigd because of the strength and purpose built and thicker arm and the angle and reinforcement that comes up off the receiver and then goes out to the swing arm. It helps distribute the weight very well off road and can take a beating. Once swing out the weight shifts and balances between north arms really well and you still retain full towing capacity. Mine hasn’t moved after running full size spare 33 4 gallon gas can, and my mountain bike and rack as well as a trasharoo across the country 3000 miles. Plus i have Bounced it off plenty of rocks and trails.

I must be missing something in the photos. It looks like it is in the receiver as I can see the pin. So how does the passenger side of the rig attach to the truck? Is there a bracket I can't see?

There is not a bracket on the passenger side. 4 Runner in photo, but you can see how beefy the arm is and how much weld they fit at the receiver tube.

Okay, so all of the weight of the tire and rack are supported by the receiver. It looks like it would put a lot of torsional stress on the receiver.

Not saying they don't work and last, but man that's got to be a pretty good load on the receiver when you start bumping the truck up and down pretty good.

I have towed my 5' x 12' utility trailer using it a couple times now. It is tow rated (legitimately), so I don't think there should be any issues, except for the fact you will need to extend your safety chains & possibly your trailer plug since it does increase the length between things.

    None.... Yet
Are you using the main hitch extended from the oem hitch or the offset hitch located at the end of the swing that most others use for a bike rack?

You can only use the main hitch for towing.

For $1300 I’m happy I paid $400 more to get a full HC rear bumper with a swingout. Seems really overpriced for what it is but then again never heard anything bad about them.
