I have the Buckmark. It’s ridiculous accurate.

I bought it because the latest Ruger is not CA compliant. Boo. The buckmark is so easy to clean because you basically can’t. I spray it down occasionally with gun spray and run a barrel snake down the tube. Easy! Goes against my OCD to make things spotless, but honestly the gun has never failed. I hunt bunnies with it and I’m surprised I’m so successful. It is easy to aim and shoot.

Us the slide polymer too? Looks like there's a mold or division line in it?

The slide is hybrid (metal reinforced polymer). They had to keep the slide weight down because of the blowback design. I'm at about 3k rounds through the barrel, and I have had no failures. I have shot a lot of subsonic suppressed as well as Eley target and Aguila Interceptors. It eats everything. This has become my standard training pistol for day to day drills, as 9mm is scarce. As I said previously, it is exactly the same size as a G19. My only bitch is that mags are limited to 10 rounds, where the 19 standard mags are 15. If they just came out with a 15 round mag, this would be the perfect training tool.

I've enjoyed my Smith&Wesson M&P 22. Aside from that, the two best suggestions I can give are: first, 22s tend to be picky on the ammo they like. Before buying a bunch of one type make sure it's something that whatever gun you've chosen cycles it reliably. I've got a stack of winchester super x 100pks that are useless to me, constant malfunctions. Second, 22 ammo tends to be dirty. Keep whatever you buy clean and lubed. Bring your cleaning kit with you to the range so you can clean if you need to. Good luck.

Ruger or Buckmark it really is a toss up, I have been shooting a Buckmark for a few years now, very accurate, I have used a verity of different sights/scopes and generally enjoy the pistol (although it doesn't get much use anymore

My buckmark is the Contour model. Added complications of having to get a holster made for it. Nobody sells one.

love my 22/45 lite! The aluminum receiver and polymer frame make it a much more manageable weight for a 22 pistol.

I compared it to a stainless target model when I was shopping and the all steel model felt comically heavy for a 22

A little of this and a little of that.
Another vote for the S&W Victory .22! The one I have shoots everything I load in the magazines and is very accurate. Easy to clean as well. The aftermarket parts are pretty extensive too.

ive shot both the buckmark and ruger, ended up with the ruger because it was threaded and readily available at the time of purchase

you cant go wrong with either

Apparently the application process is so backlogged that we are looking at about another 4 months before we can actually purchase anything.

That sucks. Gives you more time to make a decision. :D

I have a Buckmark, but would buy a Ruger.

I love my Ruger MK IV Lite. I went in the store knowing I wanted a MK IV but was on the fence between the Lite, Tactical, and a Stainless target models.

After handling all 3 the Lite was the obvious choice, it was comfortable and well balanced. The Steel receiver Tactical and especially the all stainless target models just felt comically heavy for a .22 pistol. They were heavier than my full sized HK45 Tactical which just seemed overkill for a 22 plinker.

I've had the Ruger 22/45 for maybe close to ten/fifteen years and have shot numerous rounds of standard 22lr various brands no issues. It is rather heavy but also accurate. My only complaint on this model I have the grips aren't easily changed out likes other Ruger 22's the newer model 22/45's might be different. I also much more recently purchased TX22 it's nice, works fine, accuracy meh, ok. Wife likes it as it is lighter and better feel to her.
Some of those Buckmarks are cool looking, futuristic lol, I've never tried one though.
Price point on that Taurus TX 22 was very cheap with rebate.
