I’m about to change the oil on my 3rd gen soon, probably sometime next month, and from what I’ve experienced installing my cat shield, my 3rd gen isn’t high enough off the ground like my 2nd gen was to go underneath comfortably. On the 3rd gen we have to remove the front skid plate to get to the oil filter  so I’ll be spending a bit more time under the truck.

Anyone have experience with Rino Ramps? Will I kill myself using them? My concern is I’ll be driving up and down them without a spotter.

Any other creative ways to raise the truck up a bit (Drive onto wood boards?)? I just need like 3 more inches ( that’s what she said….)!!!

I dont trust ramps anymore unless they are solid. A stack of 2x4's that act as a ramp works, but simply I prefer a jack on the center lift point then set two jack stands if I need to work underneath.

A hard curb works as a lift as well if you have one out front lol.

    Oh look, another mod....
If you do, I will tell the world your story. You will not be forgotten, well, until next month. Also, make sure you chalk the wheels before crawling underneath any vehicle.

P.S. This wouldn't happen if you had 4whl drive. That would've given you the 3+ inches that you have always needed.

Love Rhino ramps. Very sturdy, hold a lot of weight and stack together for easy storage. Use mine all the time, you won't regret getting them.

A buddy of mine has Rhino Ramps and really likes them. I have Race Ramps only because my Mustang and Magnum have such low clearance in front.

I’ve got a pair of Rhino ramps, each is rated to hold 4,000 lbs. Given that the truck is 5,600 lbs and only part of that weight will be on the ramps, I have no safety concerns. There is no problem driving up them by myself. I do chock the wheels on the ground with 70 lb sandbags. If they do kill you, you family can get some $$$ from a lawsuit against Rhino.

I have an OR so I don’t need to use ramps. However I use Rino Ramps to service my wife’s RAV4. I also chalk the rear wheels and use Jack stands as an added safety measure. If you have a smart phone or better yet a tablet with a camera put it on selfie mode and place it where you can see your drivers side wheel and the ramp from the cab. Works for me.

I don't like using Rhino ramps either. You can get ideas of how to make your own ramps by searching through you tube.

Rhino ramps work, have been around for many years.

If you change your own oil, do yourself a favor get an aftermarket skid plate or the TRD Pro skid plate which have access openings for oil filter and drain, so you don't have to remove the factory skid every time.

I've used Rhino Ramps for years on all my vehicles I've owned with never an issue, from my Miata to my 2500 Suburban.
I have always used them solo without a spotter. As long as you go slow you can feel when you get onto the top of the ramp and the stops on the ramp gives a very clear feeling when you hit it.

    Always use wheel chocks though

I have been using Rhino ramps for years with my 2018, 2005 and my wife's cars. Never had any issues. I do chock the rear wheels each time.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
As stated above, get a trd pro skid plate, or aftermarket with the access holes for the filter, and drain plugs. no more removing the plate, for servicing. just remove 4 small screws, and the access cover, and viola, there is the oil filter housing. on my 3rd gen with a 2" lift, I change the oil and filter with no lifting of the truck. lots of room under there but, I dont have the lower valance on the front bumper either. (also needs to be removed for the trd skid plate usage). Ski

I've had these composite ramps for awhile now. They held up fine with my gen1 v8 4wd tundra. Now using them for the tacoma. They work fine. I think they were rated for way more then the weight of either truck.
