I scrolled back and read AFTER I posted my comment hahaha. $28k is a pretty dang good price for your truck. Considering you could buy a $4k beater, buy your house and then get a clean $18k 2nd gen and put $10k into it. That sounds nice

Tomorrow the new transfer case arrives - Going to get a head start by pulling mine off in the morning to get the new one in. Shooting to get the truck back on the road by Saturday. Flippac is off to its new owner this weekend :( But for every loss, there's a reason. Selling the Flippac allowed me much, much more important things.

Fancy campers are sick but I absolutely love having a simple truck with nearly no additional weight besides bumpers skids and sliders. So many fancy builds with big bulky camping setups are really cool but also so heavy and expensive. Sad to see that go, but excited for whatever you have planned.

That's the thing I've come to learn. Losing the Flippac isn't a huge loss for me, although it is one of the best "camper" setups. Setup time is stupid quick, it's huge, etc. But again, it's huge. It's bulky, it's heavy. If I could park this truck and stop driving it 10 miles uphill everyday to school, I would.

But lets just say, I want to push out my track width 4" instead soon :amen:

Ahhhhhhh ditching the bulky heavy overlander setup for LT, I see... I will raise a glass to that. I have never been a fancy camper. I love simple wheeler builds because they’re just no nonsense. LT will be nuts especially because you basically already have rear LT. Front LT will work beautifully with it.

More or less. Back to basics. This was my favorite setup by far to be honest. I could get the tent off into my garage by myself and the rack off in 5 minutes. The main reason is surfboards - It's been over 3 months since I've surfed since I couldn't get my board to the damn beach.

This also lets me run a front roof rack which is nice. I'll probably end up going with the same tent (Go FSR M55), just waiting for a sale. I won't be camping till the end of next month.

The lack of lockable storage does suck, but I'll just have faith in humanity.

More-or-less. I have to see if it's in the budget after some purchases are made. Selling my Kings + UCA's will offset the cost of just the LT shocks.

But yes, I can say mid-travel is awesome, however, after riding in a LT truck...It's a whole new game. Knowing me it's going to be risky since somehow, someway, I'm going to figure out a way to slap 37's on the truck and start breaking sh*t left and right. Front bumper will go too - well the front end is going to get...revamped. That's a long way down the road though

Jba ucas ? I feel you on being able to have room for boards in such. Was looking at a pretty extensive set up but I’d rather be able to carry the fun stuff than have the cool high tech stuff if that makes sense.

This is a dilemma many of us face to some degree.

whether it be going to 35’s or 37’s or for some even to 33’s seems to be a fearful choice. Do what makes you happy and suits your lifestyle. I have a toddler with another on the way & I keep wheeling with built JKUR’s so it’s only a matter of time before my truck gets moderately uncomfortable as a DD but then again I don’t want something that’s not easy to DD.

Yes JBA UCA's and King 2.5's with 700# Springs. UCA's have close to...25k miles on them or so

This is very, very true. I find myself buying a ton of crap that I don't need, but want. Usually end up selling for what I got it, so it's not like I'm taking a huge loss at times.

The big reason why I need to plan for if I want to bump tire sizes is gearing. 4.88 and 37's are a sweet spot as well as 4.56 and 35's. I don't plan on doing it twice. But then 37's each cost an arm and left nut...lol.

Do you plan on getting a second car?

No way, no how! Baby 2 is on the way. I could see myself convincing my wife that I need a $3k Camry maybe 5-7 years from now but then I wouldn’t get to enjoy how practical AND capable my truck CURRENTLY is as it sits. I’ve got full skids on the way, I’d like to get a HC rear bumper without swingout & maybe a front bumper and some nice front shocks but other than that, I’m sticking with the current “build/gnar” level because it’s a sweet spot for me. I don’t even hesitate to be able to take my family up north in my truck for a camping trip (in ground tents) because my truck is still practical, but I can still try to follow jeeps and have decent fun too. For these reasons, I don’t want a second car for myself. I envy but mainly pity the guys with trial rigs so GNAR that they are a nightmare to drive on road or much less moderate to long distances. I love where I’m at, personally. I’m also 30 and I’ve found that balance is often the answer in life.

Add one bar down each side of the rack and use totes/bins/etc that are too big to fit through the gap. It’s not completely safe from theft but at least makes a quick snatch and run impossible.

I love the simple look of that setup. Pretty close to mine. What rack is that? DIY or something commercial?

And @crazysccrmd has a good idea for making the bed rack basically a cage.
