The model I want is ~650lb or so. Would ditch bumpers at that point and save weight.

My wife and I lived in a 97 4WC Grandby on a F350 for a summer while teaching skiing and snowboarding in Mammoth. By the end of the summer, we called it the 212 (2 Wheel 1 Season 2 Heavy) camper. The temperature swings in Mammoth aren't awesome for an uninsulated hypalon pop-up, but the weight, build quality (lack there of) and overall compromises for the lack of amenities had us selling the camper as quickly as we could when we got home. With my experience with it "off road", the thought of putting one on a capable long travel truck makes me cringe a little bit. Different strokes, though, and to each their own.

Very true, I’ve heard both sides. Luckily the model I want is much lightwr than the Grandby and no cold weather camping for me minus the additional ski trip. Maybe a Vagabond will pop up down the road as well, who knows.

Random trip photos from National Parks. I learned on this college trip that:

    1. I hate sleeping next to other people, especially when they snore so loud I can hear them from 100ft away
    2. Ground tents still suck, especially when your self-inflating mattress pops
    3. Sprinter vans have terrible suspension
    4. 50 wet wipes isn't enough for a week
    5. I'm the only person who didn't have issues pooping, lol
    6. I am terrible at taking pictures when it's sunny outside

All in all, fun trip! All the sunset photos were taken by my girl in Arches while I was washing dishes. She said it was the best sunset she's ever seen!

    Questions.

    1) why does your gf snore so loud?
    2) why were you in a ground tent?
    3) why did you ride in a Sprinter?

Hahah I didn't bring my truck with me. It was a college trip so we took the school vans and had to sleep in tents - on every dip or bump the van would bottom out and send you 3-6" out of your seat on rebound hahaha.

Negative. I do have another trip coming up next week, in July, and again in August though.
