Unless otherwise specified, I've always run 87. Exception was my 1984 Camaro I had as a teenager, that would knock like hell on even 89 octane so I used 93. That was a V8 and had been tweaked quite a bit by the authorities however.

Curious, would a supercharger require 91-93?

Super charged or turbo needs the higher octane. And cars that have higher cumbustion engines.

Thought so re the SC, and I do recall compression ratio will dictate the octane. Not sure what my old Camaro was for that

    This is what you wrote:

“We are N/A which as I understand it means that any higher of an octane is unnecessary.”

My truck has a slight stumble at light throttle loads when using 87 octane. It goes away if I use the highest grade. I have checked this many, many times switching between grades. It's an absolute fact. I still run the 87 though as I would rather have the stumble than pay more for gas.

Alright probably the last update for a while in case anyone’s still following:

Haven’t had the shuddering issue for several days now and have driven it pretty frequently. I’m trying to run the tank down right now so I can refill it with better fuel as I really think that could’ve been the issue.

Regarding the fuel leak issue, the mechanic at the original dealership was able to fix it in about a half hour today while I waited. Didn’t require new lines or anything.

I think my plan for the future is to find a local mechanic (non-dealership) in order to get less sales-motivated advice. Since the truck is out of warranty now anyway I don’t see any reason to keep going back when almost every single time it’s been outrageously expensive and some new and convenient issue is always “identified”.

I know I’ve said it several times but I really appreciate all the advice everyone’s given on this thread, and on the site in general. I’m mechanically inclined but only for more basic stuff so it’s always a relief to have such a massive community to turn to when my truck does weird things.
