OP has your truck been wrecked before? Looks like a tag on the metal bracket that say should say "NSF Certified" which would be an A/M part

I feel like it’d be concerned that the airbags didn’t deploy on an impact like that. I mean, that’s a really decent hit.

Concealed damage will drive the repair cost up.
Inspector gave me a qoute and said not to open hood because I may not be able to drive mine if it wont lock back shut.
Body shop then added another $2500 to the bill replacing all the busted plastic. I hit a average size doe and took out the fender and passenger door along with the front end and AC condenser. Glad to see the deer get up and walk away. My truck lost that one. I know they are designed to collapse on impact but that was awful for that type of impact. Impact was around 25 MPH and I hit Bambi while it was still airborne jumping a guard rail..

Closer inspection of the crash bar showed some stress on the drivers end of it where I hit the back legs of the elk. Why that didn’t trigger the bags, I’ll never know.
The adjuster said it was going to be a close call either to repair it or write it off. I’m glad it was written off. I got 38k CAD for the 2017 Sport, 134,000 kms odometer.
(Elk got up and ran away too!)

I think OP’s truck will be repaired

dont call your insurance company just yet.

get all the info on the camera's if you can prove a ryder, or penske truck was in the neighborhood AND hit your auto, you can go against that trucks insurance provider, and leave your insurance company out of it for now.

the last thing you want to do is call your provider, if it is not your fault AND you can GO AGAINST SOMEONE ELSE POLICY. if you dont have that info for sure, or the other provider doesnt give you quick enough response or satisfaction... then you can go to your provider, with all that info, so they can possibly subrogate against the provider, on your/their behalf.

are you saying that something like this could be kept from the owners insurance and they won't find out?

yes, as long as you dont contact your provider. in michigan, we are a no fault state so, if the car is hit parked, and you know who did it... that insurance provider must pay for repairs and loss of use (rental, while your auto is being repaired). no need to get your provider involved. Depending on the state, using the at-fault party can leave you semi-screwed, though.

As I noted above, in 2016 my 2013 was hit semi-head on by a driver who crossed the double yellow. It was a clear-cut case of the other driver being at fault. At first my insurance wanted to rebuild, his insurance wanted to total. Given the amount of structural damage to my truck, I didn't want it back, so I engaged the other driver's insurance. Things were going smoothly until they asked me to move my vehicle out of the body shop. I asked why, that they had deemed it totaled and that it was not my problem any more. They said, we're going to pay you the total loss settlement (which had not yet been disclosed to me) less salvage cost and you'll retain the vehicle. They said they'd work with getting someone to take the salvage, but I'd be responsible to move it somewhere (aka my yard). I later learned salvage value was in the range of 12,000-13,000 at the time, so I'd have gotten a tiny check and had to deal with all the BS.

I re-engaged my insurance, who totaled out the vehicle and bought it from me, which included sales tax. So I ended up getting a full settlement including all my mods covered and didn't have to deal with the vehicle. The other insurance is going to want to give you the bare minimum. If your company is going to subrogate you've got more in your corner in that regard. When my wife's Mazda was totaled, any time the at-fault company called me I simply referred them to my insurance company.

Nope, lost cause. Last I heard from USAA in 2018 was “ We’ve been unable to recover any money from the responsible party. We've also taken all steps available to have the responsible party's driving privileges revoked.”

Probably wouldn’t have bode too well for my employment.

I like to think that his 2008 Yukon, all fucked up and undriveable is his karma. Hopefully no other vehicle and owing USAA about $11k keeps him from buying anything as well as the fact his license was probably suspended until he paid the state the $500 and I guess in VA, a SR-22 comes along with it for 3 years.
