I probably devote way too many resources into my trucks, but oh well!
I look forward to the day we can do some trails again. Thanks bud.

Your build helped alot, I've been wanting to lift my truck for a few months now. This looks like a crazy amount of work for me though

    Hood Struts:
Hood struts are on most modern cars, except the cheap ones. They help by removing the need for the hood prop stick and make cool sounds when they move.

I got these from Redline Tuning in a recent group buy.

    Parts/Cost:
$80: Redline tuning PLUS 2005-2015 Tacoma hood struts [21-27010-02]

    Tools:
    -Rivet tool with 3/16" fitting
    -Drill with 3/16" & 5/32” drill bits
    -5/16 socket
    -Masking tape
    -tape measure
    -Sharpie

    Time:
    30 mins

    Procedure:
Normally I would show you how to do it, but the instructions that come with the Redline tuning kit are already fantastic. So instead I will just show you them installed.. The kit is 2nd gen Tacoma specific, so it all fits very well.

If you want, you can watch this Mighty Car Mods episode for the hell of it because it is kind of relevant.

Here are the parts you get with the kit and the tools needed to install:

The upper bracket is the one that rivets on

The lower bracket is fastened with self tapping screws

    Tailgate Anti-theft:

Our tailgates are stupid easy to steal, especially since they don’t lock like 3rd gen tailgates. Watch this video:

Kudos to @chris4x4 for this one.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tailgate-theft-how-to-prevent-it.27829/

Having to disconnect/cut the backup camera wires adds a few seconds, but still you get the point.

    Parts / Retail Cost:
    $2: 1.75” hose clamps

    Tools:
    -screwdriver

    Time:
    5 mins

Not something I would normally make a build thread post about, but it’s something everyone should do.

Glad to see you over here Jim! I've been looking at 2nd gen Tacos lately too, but I need to decide if they're worth getting my first ever car loan for...

For reference, here's my old 3rd gen if you don't recognize my screename:
