At some point I think we have all fell for a Snake oil product. Or something that wasn't intended for a stock car.

Smiles per gallon goes a long way when it comes to comforting the soul, even if it’s useless. I will keep digging on the inter webs for the 2.7 since there isn’t a tune for that yet. I’m shooting for fuel efficiency, the 5000 lb turtle isn’t exactly a rocket.

It's interesting the 2.7 is solid but I wouldn't want it. I'm for the bigger engine just in case I need the power for towing and hauling in this area we have stupid winds and I had to drop to 4th and 3500 rpms just to maintain 70 in high wind conditions with out all the shifting bs.

Issues I have had in the past with higher voltage spark was with MSDal and it fried my ECM different vehicle, so to much spark can be bad for PCM computer brains of vehicles, sure in the other vehicle I felt a difference but was not worth it

Hay guys wanted to throw a update out there on this product.

So when I installed these coils on my truck I was at 108k miles ok. Just recently like a week ago I had three ripp performance coils die on me . I was at 229k miles. Now I made sure to hold on to my OEM coils just in case . I threw the oem coils back into my truck and after about 4 tanks of 92 octane, I have lost 3 to 4 mpg. At first I thought well I did reset my lv on the ECU and transmission and reflashed my tune. Well after 4 tanks of fuel truck seems to run fine , but I barely see 6th gear anymore and loss of mpgs seemed very drastic. Understand my truck weighs 5400 lbs with 315/75/16s and stock gearing . I can get 19+ mpgs all day long with the ripp coils and hold 6th gear . Fml

I'm currently in contact with ripps technical support and waiting to hear back from them. I hope that they might swing me a deal if not I'll buy again. Can't stand the drivability I was so accustomed to be a loss. So far the best mpg I can get right now is like 16.5ish which blows all to hell . Make me kinda hate my truck right now .

OTT TUNE med spicy , k&n air filter
I've got an ott tune installed ripp coils and E3 spark plugs that's talked up on ads . We'll the E3 I think are crap I never checked plug gap but you really can't it's a cage around the spark point basically, I coukd feel the missfires and stutter. So pit original factory plugs that has 9 k milesnon theme and with ripp coils, ran smooth well smoother but I had new plugs of denso iridium but didn't match part number yet Amazon said they fit 2023 tacoma 3.5 L . Put those in today no lithium grease just dry with ripp coils and plugged in an obd2 reader a cheap one
But checked out the misfire and wow in less than 10 minutes of driving I had 60 misfires . Nit code misfire just the mainstream view . . Performance I coukd tell was lagging . I sat on drive way in park slowly reved till 2k rpm and held it there
It humming along I would check total miss fire go back and recheck to update over and over and went from 0 to 60 misfires in 20 seconds did it again quickly it would change and had 300 in less than a minute . It never felt like any misses setting still holding it. Maybe a Suttle bit but nothing significant. So I gonna do more tests but I think they do help on instant need but ecu and all wants to change too much and results are different literally every time you start new trip . Even during one trip . Idk if the tune coukd be tweaked to account for things maybe go up a level to medium spicy .

I'm going to finish reading the rest of the thread, but I had to laugh at this. C'mon man, it's one thing to ask questions, it's another to make a whole bunch of assumptions.

Exactly. I'd be ashamed to post that I actually blew money on all of those things on my truck. Instead of saying you have, "plenty of power" after dropping over $1,000 on nothing that helps power except the tune (legit) on a better sounding exhaust with maybe 5-12HP gains is a joke.. Coil Packs and Throttle Body Spacers don't "make power". Period. Thank you for making me and all the others on here laugh though. That was a good one.

AWE Exhaust, KARTBOY exhaust hangers, custom 1/0 exhaust grounding, lots of Titanium hardware from my old builds, silly JDM bits from my old Subaru builds, Uniden Bearcat Off Road CB, Firestik 2 w/custom CF mount, custom KARTBOY plate frame with Rigid Ind Spot on ball head mount, Yakima Mega Warrior w/custom CF cross brace. ARP extended studs (not installed yet), Optima Red Top, Siless Insulation in cab. Diode Dynamics LEDs throughout... More titanium fasteners. K&N intake snorkus delete. Greddy hose clamps throughout. DBA 4000XS Brake Rotors. TRD PRO fogs. Dakine Tail Gate Pad. More to come of course.
Stickers add more power than colorful coil packs. I fell down this rabbit hole with my STI back in the day. I am sure they work fine but, I literally had my car dyno tuned before and after the fancy coil pack install and saw zero gains. If I was showing my truck, I'd put the fancy coil packs on for eye candy.

For the love of Kiichiro Toyoda stop buying these things and resurrecting this thread. A quick search of the forum for "RIPP" reveals hundreds of pages with people throwing codes and having total ignition failure.
They are junk snake oil plain and simple. Anyone who claims drastic improvements in MPG or HP is a liar or a dunce. Show me an independent dyno (not done by RIPP) that proves it.
