You're implying that a set of coil packs somehow gained you 3-4mpgs???? Don't ya think Toyota would have noticed that their oem coil packs were a major fuel economy bottle neck and done something about it?? How's that Kool Aid tastin'?

I got a set off marketplace and ran them on my last truck for about a year.
I could have taken them off and put them on my new truck but it wasn’t worth the time to swap them out.

Bought a set. Drove them less than 20K mi. Blew 2 coils in the middle of nowhere. Had the OEMs, put them on. Vendor’s response was, “Yeah - happens a lot. You gotta understand how hot they run. They’re only for serious overlanders who are willing to blow them every 12 months to get the gains.” I have a YotaWerx tune and that seems to be the best investment. The Ripp didn’t help my mileage or HP at all. Spark is spark and if you understand stoichiometry, a gas fuel mixture has a theoretical maximum on the speed of explosion, and therefore an upper limit on impulse power transfer. Different fuels have different combustion speeds. That’s why ANFO, C4, Black Powder, gasoline etc. all have different energy impulses. It’s a constant assuming your oxidizer is correct and your “spark” is good enough. It’s also how Octane works. Octane doesn’t mean how much energy gasoline has. It translates to how thoroughly it burns how quickly - timing. That’s why higher Octane means less pre-firing, etc.

I had to buy new coil packs, so i bought them. No difference at all. Had them for about a year, no issues either.

Anybody remember the amazing gains made by grounding kits sold to import guys in the 2000-2010s? If a strut tower brace didn't do it, a bunch of extra ground wires would. Sheesh.

What kind of absolute malarkey is that? And from a vendor no less??
If they did have any credibility, it’s toast after that statement.

I bought the truck to fiddle with after my kid graduated college. I knew it was probably mouse’s milk (as my father called such things) but I like to tinker and I’m an empiricist at heart so oh well. Other stuff has worked out and I love the truck so no big loss.

My favorite part of the convo on the phone was when I offered to send the blown coils back for them to QC them and the guy said (I’m paraphrasing to be fair) no, we have so many blown coils we stopped trying to diagnose them. Wow. Uhhhhh - OK.
