The first dealer that I had take a look at my Tacoma Frame rust warranty, noticed the boots on both upper ball joints were ripped. The said they wanted to replace the whole arm assembly at $800 for the pair. Anyone else have a dealership tell you they won't replace the ball joint only? They stated since they were rusty, it would be best to replace the whole assembly......?

I could buy a nice set of aftermarket UCA for that price.

You could get a set of lightly used stock UCAs in the classifieds here for under a hundred and install them yourself.

The second dealer I took it to (andwho will be performing the frame replacement) said they would install any customer supplied parts that are normally removed/reinstalled at no additional charge, making the labor portion free. Just debating if I should pull the trigger on new UCA. Thinking about going with the JBA lifted versions. I like the idea of a weather sealed ball joint (it rains a lot here in Oregon)

I had the dealer install a set of stock UCAs I bought here and a bunch of other stuff both new and barely used when I had my frame replaced. I'm not lifted so no need for aftermarket UCAs. The old ones are in a box in the garage. They're rusty but the ball joints are good and no damage to the boots or water intrusion. Only had to take it back once cause they didn't get one of the bed bolts tight and they installed the standard leafs instead of the heavy duty ones. The heavy duty leaf springs are only slightly better than stock and I still had to add airbags to get level when towing.
