River Trip Aug.12-14 Delaware River

I'm in... Five guys on one site is going to be very tight.

 

Ben you should rename this thread "5 guys 1 camp"

 

This brings back memories
Used to canoe 40 miles on the Deleware, eight years in a row.
Set in at the NE corner of Penn., where the Deleware East & West Merge.
Three days to Skinner's Falls.
Father's Day Weekend in June, plenty of snow runoff from the Catskills.
Had the itinerary down to a science.
6 guys from the Cape, 2 from Boston, 2 from RI, and 2, sometimes 4 from NY.
Hell of a good time.

Ha Ha Ha, No Banjos, we ended about 40 miles north of the Gap.
I didn't read the whole thread but we stayed in Narrowsburg Thurs. night before starting.
Set in @ mile 0, Camped @ mile 13 Fri night, about mile 32, I think, was the camp ground where we rented the canoes and stayed Sat nite.
The Camp Grounds Rocked Sat Nite, The place was packed with people from NYC.
"Single Cooler Run" 8 miles to Skinner's Falls Sun A.M. to shoot the Rapids.
Drove home Sundays.
We ran 2 men, 2 Military Duffle Bags lined with trash bags, and 2 Coolers (1 Food / 1 "Liquids") per Canoe
You guys must be kayaking though.
I wonder where my pictures are?
Any of You been there before? If so you should have the laminated river maps.
You can do without 'em, but you'll only be able to go one way.
Worth purchasing if your going any distance.
Waterproof everything and tie it down. We had 7.5 ft Rivers a couple years.
EDIT: the river's avg. depth is 2.5 ft where measured in 2 locations near Narrowsburg
40 miles and the paddles were just used to steer
Advice - When we went, there was a avg. of 1.4 deaths a year on the Delaware.
Mostly alcohol related, but we drank and survived.

I have details, but it's been years, so places may have changed some.
Let me know if you want specifics, I have a folder with some info.

and yes i grew up summer on the river at my uncles house in calchoon
im looking at a run from long eddy or hankins to narrowsburg about 20-27 miles.......

Didn't read the whole thread, so not sure where you're going.
IIRC, Landers as Skinner's Falls is one spot.
But that's where we ended.
Before I went, some friends started there, made it 100 yards to the falls, swamped, capsized and lost everything.
Couple of 'em never went back.
I only know the upper river (from there) but the others said they liked it better than below Skinner's Falls.
As posted above, we set in at the NE corner of Penn. where the Delaware East and West merge. Town is Hancock NY
We were portaged there by the Camp Ground and there was a ball field on the edge of the river.
They drove around the ball field right to the water. Beautiful spot.
I recall a few towns, villages, whatever, that had landings, we'd pull up to and walk to the local store to buy Ice.
Try Google maps or Google earth maybe.

Sounds Great! Two days?
Yah, can't remember the camp ground name.
We used to stay at the Century Inn, in Narrowsburg, the night before we started.
They'd keep the Kitchen open for us, 'cause we came every year, and that was their slow season (Thurs nite in June).
About 10 of us would have a great meal, then sit at the bar 'til Midnight, walk up 10 stairs to a $20 Twin Bed.
Had the whole place to ourselves. It was perfect.
Got on the river about noon Fri. in Hancock and ended about noon on Sun. at Skinners.
