A truckducken?

 

I would imagine that with an electric motor at each wheel, there is no driveline? No transmission, driveshaft, or differentials. Just guessing. I agree that it's a pretty cool concept.

Ford ranger will be a viable option to replace the Tacoma. I love my Taco. But man, my wife's explorer has the twin turbo v6 and that thing has some get up and go, can tow as much, and the transmission is smooth, and dialed in. Both Taco and explorer are '16 models and both get very similar gas mileage, but hitting the gas in the explorer is very enjoyable.

 

Not everyone finds the 3rd gen visually pleasing either.

 

Actually I think the word you are looking for may be torque, although it is almost instant.

Which is why they are used in trains and large ships.

 

$100,000 for the one with the bigger battery most likely,either way its not even worth the price.

 

You could not pay me to drive something that ugly. Shit you couldn’t pay me to drive the ugly ass blue Tacomas let alone that thing.

True. But we have to remember that's what horse and buggy owners said about the Model T as well.

 

You can knock off 100 miles from anything the Manufacture says about miles on an electric Truck,they always way over estimate (Lie about)the miles range.

My 2 cents: body styling sucks balls, but the available storage looks nice. Needs a rear swing-out bumper for the spare tire though. Oh, and yeah I can thing of better things to spend 70K on.

It's amazing how many articles and vids have been posted online in the last 24 hours. Talking about flooding the space with ad money.

There are a few things it does bring to the table that are new and quite interesting, but it doesn't have rear drum brakes, so I'll take a pass.

 

I'm happy to see this. I wouldn't spend $70k in it under any circumstances but things like this will serve to help push the segment in that direction just based on the concept alone. suspect we aren't far from seeing more hybrid options surface soon. I'd be happy to have a hybrid Taco that would give instant torque and acceleration off the line. I'm not willing to confine myself to a 400 mile range though... esp. when it isn't as easy as stopping for a quick fill-up before heading off the grid after driving 300 miles.

But, the tech and range is getting better and will continue to do so. Until then, I know my Taco will get me there without hassle. It will just get there when it damn well pleases.

 

According to the links posted in the other two TW threads on this vehicle, towing (11,000+ lbs) and payload (1,700+ lbs) are greater than the Tacomas. And they're claiming 400 miles without a charge.

No different than gas manufactures. I even if 400 is an overreach, it put's it on par with the distance for all other mid-sized trucks.

 

Those people probably celebrate Festivus.
