Haven't hybrids already proven the electric side can be made reliable? Much more complicated system too.

Hybrids are considered ELectric Vehicles. Toyota has been making the Prius since 1997. The tech is proven. The battery for full EVs are still in a developmental flux.

I'm aware. Just don't understand the people that claim it can't be done reliably. It has been for decades with hybrids.

Dunno, I used to sound exactly like you…kinda liking the conveniences now. Thinking I should of sprung for a higher trim than being a cheap ass going with the SR. Not too crazy about the idea for a self driving vehicle for myself, though most people are horrible drivers those mofos fucking need it! lol! Would be nice on road trips though, wake me up when we get to the good stuff. Or for racing motorcycles, let the vehicle do all the driving so you can be fresh on race day.

Machines are supposed to make our life easier and more comfortable, you don’t have to participate, could always go back to when vehicles were hand cranked start or better yet steam powered. lol!
Could of gotten a Sport ACLB and converted into an OR, about all you need is better suspension and a locker. I was going to do that but was being cheap and honest with myself. Don’t really wheel the truck anyone, why I ride dirt bikes…no matter how much money I can toss at the truck, it will never be able to go where I can get the bike in.

Ahhh, just an engineer being cranky. Majority of my dirt bike buddies are engineers, they are always bellyaching about how manufacturers engineer their products, thinking they could do it better. Often I find it is an excuse for why they are slow. I am faster than them…and tell ‘em, works well enough for me! Not sure what your problem is!

I'm not really crazy about the Sport plus it would have ended up being more expensive to make a fake Off Road out of it.

Pretty much the same here, wasn’t cost prohibitive so I settled for the SR and an auto. My friends are shocked since I was a die hard manny trans for years. Hate to admit it, enjoying the auto. Especially nice after abusing myself on the bike…flip on the adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, then just sit there and let the truck do most of the work as I zone out on the way home.

Not totally against self driving vehicles, we have been having some really thick fog here, could barely see, had to use google maps to know where the intersections were so I wouldn’t blow through them. Where self driving vehicles should be able to see thru it. Guessing it would help tremendously with traffic, if they all were self driving, would all go together, no hesitation…may not even need traffic lights in the future since they could avoid each other.

    Very true.
Another way to actually save a lot of money (over half) is install the system yourself . My 8kw system with all the parts (Canada solar panels, micro controllers, roof mounts , inverter, control box and WiFi antenna) was only about $8,000 bucks in just parts . The other 10k was just labor and paper work! granted I didn’t do shit and some 5 man crew installed it all with in 4 hours plus they did all the paper work and permits. However, If you know how , or pay an electrician u can easily get away with a decent system for 10k (not including all ur time and stress tho lol).

Another option now days is “off grid” kits which are super easy to setup for just like ur garage or so (comes with a battery). No worry about utility and junction box BS . Just use it for ur EV and garage work. Same cost now days cuz parts are getting very cheap.

yes ! the ultimate solution is pretty much 90% electric generation using current nuclear or even MSR . I guess we just need to make regulations not as strict and impossible to set up build and run nuc power plants. If the exclusion zone is made smaller too the “area to power generation” for nuclear power make solar and wind look massively retarded.

But now we are talking about “dream word” lol
