Ya I get like 14mpg. EPA estimated way more, and nobody on these gets what they estimated, thus discrediting the EPA ratings (I have other cars that can also be used as anecdotal evidence).

In my 6 years of ownership, I've logged 18mpg ONCE averaging 55-65mph on cruise control on a 150 mile drive to Prescott, and closest to that is 16mpg. If I got 21 mpg I would shit a brick.

Ya exactly. Which is why you'd probably want a full charge before proceeding to be safe in my example.

I missed that you’re driving a ‘99; that makes more sense!

I’ll back up treyus30. My first Gen only gets 15-17 mpg. They only have an 18 gallon tank, fuel light comes on around 15, so I never have been able to get more than 15 gallons in it, maybe 15.5 if you fill it up the neck. Range is around 250-265. May have gotten 20 mpg a few times, that is going downhill with a tailwind.

Rivian is cool and all, too much money for what it is. Awful lot of money that can’t haul much or go very far when it does. Rather do a 4WD Sprinter at that price point.

Speaking of range, have been following Tim @ Dirt Sunrise, said they can go 1000 miles in their diesel Maltec LC80. Daaaaaamn! And here were are arguing over bullshit we can’t control, and they are out there doing it.

Can't believe they make millions off people watching their stuff. I'm going to enjoy being 80 years old, living in cyberspace as my plugged-in meatsack withers away in a catacombs somewhere, and being able to watch the AMC version of Mad Men for the clickbait/instagram/influencer era. I'm not sure who the villains are, but I know who is making out and who the marks are. I might even be stimulated enough to twitch a finger.

    LOL!

Yeah I don’t get it. One of the girls at work was showing me some kid who opens boxes of toys and plays with them. Somehow that kid is worth 32 million. Fuuuuuuuuck. I am definitely doing something wrong as this morning found the water heater hose was leaking, there I am wearing flip flops in shin deep water fixing it. So now my day is cleaning that mess up. Maybe I should start a YouTube channel…the “Now what the fuck is it!?” channel…. lol!

Faaaaaaaauuuck. Save yourself 5 Gs and make a diesel…and run bio in it. :p That seems somewhat better for the environment than EVs.

You know, for some time I've wanted to turn a late 70s Mercedes 220D into a grease burner surf taxi. And you won't mind if you smell like french fries because it'll just mix with the salt and seawater and neoprene and sex wax and sunblock and all that after you get back from the break.

I wonder if they realize the earth has been around a longer then that. I bet the climate had changed millions of times before that.
