Gotcha, sounds like the process should be pretty straight forward. Im gonna hold off i think until i get some more time to do it. And id like to get my boot in for the floor.

Yes i did do this, and all seemed well. Would just have the itch to do it once installed!

What would the benefits be of that case? Im guessing selectable 2wd, 4wd, and awd? I think someone else mentioned this in the torsen diff thread.

The A340 was mated to the early 4th gen 4runners with the v6 so im betting it would hold up nicely to your boosted 2TR. Would probably be nice with a shift kit, curious though, why you ditching the 5spd?

The A340 is the auto behind the 2.7L since the 3RZ  Guys are upgrading the clutches and swapping them into 8sec cars, tons of aftermarket support to include stalled torque converters.
The first gear ratio is for starting a heavy load, and too far from second that once I change gears I'm border-line bogging down; I'm up to 3300rpm to get a smooth transition into second- problem with this is turbo sounds but snail speeds. I considered keeping the manual and swapping in an aftermarket gearset from another R series transmission but decided my knee would be happier with an auto (and cheaper too).

That's going to be a crazy cool setup with AWD and a SC!

You should have 2wd but no 4wd.

    Great advice, gonna follow it

Lol I got all kinds of garage slang in my vocabulary but I didn't make any of it up

Should be great to help put the power down!

Lol now everytime i use my channel locks i think of this

Awesome, sounds like theres lots more aftermarket support. I completely understand the lag between 1st and 2nd. You really have to wind out first to end up in 2nd at a decent rpm.

This should be a solid backup to the 6spd manual shifter boot for the floor (this one's out of the A/T FJC). Will also limit the size of the hole i need to cut, could be a blessing in disguise

Yess, your truck would love some gears!

Glad to hear they were able to repair your driveshaft. A new one was gonna be kinda pricy

Confirmed with the wrecking yard that my diff will be read for pickup tomorrow.

@Texoma Do you know if the CV axle nuts require a 6 or 12 sided 35mm socket? And are there any other special tools you can think of that i'll need to just pull the front diff and swap in the new one?
