in the event of air bag deployment, it could rupture your eardrums. I wouldn’t block the vents.

2.5 gen has a single vent, the factory back panel has a 3/4" jute cloth that wraps around the vent to reduce noise - here's my solution, I cut off a piece of the factory jute cloth and wrapped it around the vent, jute lets air pass but reduces sound, will be taking on the highway tomorrow, I'm pretty optimistic about it. FWIW I'd say a box of sound deadener is worth the investment, you can do the back wall and both doors with a single box.

I have been doing some reading about the rear vent area road noise and have a question. I am an amateur at this and have never taken the back seat panel off. I would like to reduce the noise from this area also. My question is. Would it make any sense to sound deaden the back of the OEM sound dampening panel ? Why I am thinking this is, the sound gets into the truck via the vent and if the sound dampening is on the metal back wall it will not have an effect on the vent noise. Putting deadening on the sound dampening panel may help with this ? Has anyone tried this ? or is it a bad idea ? I do not want to block the vents keeping the airbag deployment in mind.
