I have had my '18 DCLB Off Road since September and took it back to the dealership once to fix a whistling noise that ended up being an improperly sealed window. I can't really recall if it was present before that, but the road noise on the drivers side is becoming an annoyance of mine. If it was there when I test drove the truck or the first few weeks of ownership, then I can't recall it. When I am driving and a car passes me on the left it literally sounds like the window is cracked open or the door is not shut all the way, but neither of those is the case.

So I'd like a consensus; is this the case for everyone? I am half temped to test drive another just to see if it is the same there. How is road noise for your stock trucks?

Mine is very quiet (18' SR5 DCLB) on the freeway and inside roads. When I drove my cousin's '16 I did notice a difference between road noise from mine to his which you explained.

Nope. Road noise is best out of any gen Tacoma. Maybe check your seals. Make sure the door alignment is good.

I have a slight whistle in the drivers side. It gets much worse at 70+ not a massive annoyance something I will have addressed at my 5k service in January. Road noise not really an issue even with beefier tires on

Thanks guys, this tells me that it is definitely something I should expect to not be dealing with and will have it addressed.

My double cab short bed has been quiet since I got it 2 months ago. This is on side roads or the freeway.

Another vote for quiet here. I even have a Prinsu and think it's quiet. Maybe test drive another taco to compare.

Its probably just a misaligned door ( lock mechanism) not set tight enough.
Gorilla test= close the suspect door with about 10 sheets of newspaper...you get the picture..
and test drive. noise gone?...door not properly sealed or not set tight enough.
