do you have a problem with me telling of my trip and what I thought about it?

Don’t need to say why, but I only went in that deep, because I didn’t want to change clothes or get my pants wet.

Never Never land is call Tuktoyutuk of Tuk or the Arctic Ocean

No problem just bugging about your temperatures!

The water sure felt colder than the 5.4C when I was in, but maybe not?!?

Really i should look back to see if you post a thread about your trip? I am sure it was awesome!!

If I go to Tuk I'm swimming. I don't care how cold it is, I know it's going to be cold. Not going that far and not swimming. and I hope I can bring the dog too, I think the border rules are fine (in a normal time) to bring her. Most likely will need to pick up another softtopper for this trip. I won't get one yet since who knows if I'll still have my tacoma when I eventually make this trip.

We had no issues bring out dog. We spent extra time making sure we had all the paperwork and food bags and crap. Neither the US or Canada border agents even cared or asked about him. Coming back into the US the lady who did the inspections (food and stuff) was more interested in petting him than anything else.

Hah! Yeah, I don't foresee it being a big deal as long as you know what you're doing. I'm sure plenty of people show up with no clue what the rules are. The real dilemma though is if she'd appeciate being in the truck on some gravel/rocky roads, in the cab all day not getting a ton of exercise vs. leaving her behind w/ my wife.

TBD - it's all way out, definitely not happening this year for me for several reasons, so we'll see. But thanks for the input! I didn't even think about the whole food thing! Fortunately she's on a relatively common food, and if we have to bring sealed bags we can do that etc. I haven't even looked at a lot of the rules yet.

Well Its only April 16th 2021. August is 4 months away. I have the time off ( pretty much all of August), I have the money to go, I have the truck and whatever gear I need and I have my route planned from last year...but I don't have confidence that the government restrictions and travel bans will allow it. The government of Yukon has not replied to my e mail and today I decided to call it. This trip will have to wait.
Maybe when its time there will be a group going not just me.... its all good. Safety first....

yea, nothing lasts forever and this wouldn't either. But given a choice of compliance and sanity, sanity comes first so compliance can follow. If compliance came first followed by insanity then all common sense will be lost and I hope the general population dose not go down that road..

Keep me posted - this year would have been a push for me from work stance anyway, but next summer there's potential!

Right now there's a smaller trip planned further south during US's memorial day weekend - up until the day I have to leave, I am going to plan to go, assuming they're going to open the borders  if they aren't open as I'm about to leave, that's when I'll call it off. Much smaller scale trip though!

The trip is being canceled for this year and may be resumed next year, there is too much logistics with quarantine etc involved at this time. Plus local communities may not feel welcome to the tourists with everything going on.

If you do go post the pictures!
