    So, things HAVE changed but I’m still at a 60-75% chance to make this if we do summer of 2023, as long as the borders are open. I would have to have the dog, though. 45 lb Catahoula, she’s fine with it - she’s been my copilot out to LA and back.

    I am not sure how long y’all plan to make this trip be, or where the start point is, but from here up and back says 158 hours, so I just estimated 10 hours a day driving, 15 days = ~a shade over 2 weeks calendar days. Would be taking the days off work, in theory, but I can PROBABLY swing that, but will probably need to know basically by the end of March 2023 what the plan is. Looking at my calendar, coming from the states having an extra vacation day to play with would be nice, so if I’m throwing out dates, including one of the following would be awesome:

    Memorial day - last Monday of May, May 29 2023
    July 4 2023
    Victory Day - August 14th 2023
    Labor Day - September 4 2023

    But if not, oh well, that would only be one vacation day extra on a cake of like 11 needed for this :rofl:

    Otherwise things are lining up for this. Other than gas prices….

    basically it's fine till you get to the Alaskan HWY beyond Fort Nelson. once you start driving up it, you only get cell service in the small towns.
    once you get into the boundary of Whitehorse, yeah you have full cell service.
    it's spotty between Dawson creek and Fort nelson.

    Well couldn't say "scary" since for the most part i stayed at provincial parks for the trip up. with the exception of 3 nights;
    Gravel pit here;
    upload_2022-5-26_22-51-36.jpg

    a private/ enclosed "camp"ground
    and a overflow parking lot full of RVs.

    the most "scared" i was was the gravel pit above. 5km from the nearest road across rail tracks and off the main road. yeah was a bit sketch if there was someone that visited since i'm alone out there. but thankfully nothing happened an no one drove by in the 12 hours i was there (stopped at 6pm to set up shop and eat something and then left at 6am as quickly as i could). it was the first spot i saw on g-maps that was a little ways a way.

    Will this happen. I don't know first I have to learn to ride it. But it sure would be an adventure taking this to Tuk. :)

    If you did it long side someone in their truck it would make it a lot easier that’s for sure.

    There's some awesome free camping about 30 minutes from that gravel pit. Just north of Kaministiquia on the way to Silver Falls PP.

    It's right on the river...a few pull-ins off the west side of the road with fire pits. To date it's been the best free camping I've had that was also easy access.

    I've stopped there a few times on the way across.
