Hopefully not a thread jack but:

I recently bought a first first gen (2000) and boy I would not want to road trip in that thing.

I don't have any extended wheel time in a second gen and am wondering how much better it is on a long haul than a first gen?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated as I am likely buying a new Tacoma very soon.

Again, sorry for the slight change of subject.

My longest trip has been ~1000 miles. Took 14 hours. I did some quick math on some of these "stories" and I don't want to call anyone out, but slow down. Averaging +120mph is going to get you in trouble. :burnrubber:

    Try this before posting:

mileage claimed to have driven / hours claimed to have driven = X
    if X > 90mph check BS factor

The Phoenix area has some great off roading. I hit a lot off road trails with my buddies when I lived there for school. Did you happen to take your truck on the trails too?

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Didn't make it down to the valley this trip. I have a friend in Bailey, CO, so we rode the toys there (got to top of Twin Cone) and my parents live near Prescott so we rode around there. Truck was just the tool to get the toys there.

25 miles away from home is the longest trip to date. A marathon journey is on the horizon.

Within 2.5 weeks of buying it in Colorado, I drove up to Montana, over to Washington, Oregon, back through Idaho and back to Colorado. Then all the way down to the very southern portion of Texas and back. Was 6,100 miles total. Tired of driving after that.
