I have a 2001 toyota tacoma. The power steering pump roars when the truck is idling. I turn the wheel slightly and it stops. The fluid resevior is full. I have never had a leak or any problem with loosing fluid. I figure the bearing is gone in the pump. Has anyone replaced thier power sterring pump? Any suggestions? Any information will be appreciated.

My tacoma had a horrible power steering pump squeal,i tried lucas power steering fluid and it was so thick it made cold mornings impossible to steer it said it would get rid of the squeal but only for a second. i replaced it with a reman pump at about $170.00 then ran the truck filling it with steering fluid and pumping old fluid out of the return lines until the fluid was same color as what i was putting in. i did that the shut the truck off before i ran out of fluid, topped off the fluid and has been quiet ever since. to drain and refill i had to have help.

I replaced my pump last week. It fixed teh problem. I think I might put an inline filter on the return line. What do you think?
