I'm planning on doing the same except I want to make it with taller sides since I have a midrise topper.
How do you plan on attaching to the roof? I am going to attempt to install roof tracks and bend them to match the ext cab curves (I know it won't be easy). That way I can pull the rack off without having to seal any holes. I could also then use modular feet (like the sherpa ones).

I’ll be doing it similar to the Prinsu system using plus nuts and possibly some reinforcement plates above the headliner. Makes for a clean install and if I can get the brackets done right I can keep the rack pretty low to the roof line.

Do you plan on bending the side pieces to form the mounting feet, or mounting to the cross bars?

Mounting brackets to the cross bars. With the height I'm shooting for the side panels will be too close to the roofline to bend the feet.
Im working on finishing the Modeling for a print and cut out of cardboard again to get the final fitment. Ill post some pics when I get to that point.

I working on a design as well, are you willing to share the file once you get it finalized? I’m mostly interested in the roof contour since that’s the hardest thing to get right.

These are good practice parts to dial in the Tig machine.

Dude I am so stoked to see this truck getting some love! I feel I have a personal attachment to yours @alee891 and @jubei since we all tubbed around the same time. Even though @alee891 needed to sell for personal shit, it was cool going through the process with you guys.

Its been one little thing after another, that thing is fubar honestly. Most recently, the alternator cable was loose, leading to high resistance and the result was a fried ignition switch and several pretty important wires. Im pretty sure the shop that did my clutch did it but I cant prove it. So I’m stuck with it

    Damn that's a pita.
Sometimes that's the way it goes with race car shit. My buddy has had the same sort luck with his focus RS. He's back to stock now cause he's just tired of chasing problems and not running right.

Haha I hear that. The ironic part is I keep making progress because it's the only thing keeping me sane while I can't actually go out and USE it the way I want to right now with an infant and being a new Dad lol.
