There is something so satisfying about a fresh front end, isn't there?

Very much so, just adjusting the rack guide roller tightened things up a bunch. I’m much more confident that my alignment will hold now with the TC cam tabs too.
I was able to talk shop with the new alignment tech at the shop I take my cars to. Hes a toyota guy too so that was rad. I got some pretty good numbers. Caster maxed out around 2.4deg.

Im Supposed to go camping today. :burp:
I modeled this thing at 10am. And 4 hours later is is all tacked together. Other that the fact that my chop saw is cutting everything at an angle instead of straight, Im very pleased with my caffeine induced creation.

follows the cab angle pretty well

Its an older craftman laser trac. It was cutting fine 2months ago when I was chopping tubes :notsure: I got it done. A little eyeball alignment and big welding magnets helped me tack the cross bars together. Now Im just filling gaps

Yearly update? KOH was insane this year Not many pictures but I'll post what I got. Gave me more of motivation to bring life to this truck and toss some lunch money at it.

First start projects will be fixing issues/ future-proofing: I'm moving the front Cab mount out of the way for good.
Ill be sending out some files for cut this week. My truck will be the test dummy for now but I may cut a few extra kits if there is any interest. Made it simple so its 100% laser friendly. This moves it way back out of the way... enough to clear 37s, 40s? whatever your heart desires. There will also be plate inside the cab to further reinforce the cab, and avoid any bending or buckling in the new location

Horrible pictures but this is the Location of the mount. Forgot how much I like designing thing like this, its great practice. Spot is perfect behind the cab gusset that wasn't chopped off when I did the Tub, and the load support grooves of the cab floor provide great distribution of the load.

If you know any friends with a laser cutter handy I’d be interested in meeting them:D

Well seeing as I might possibly be dumb enough to throw 37s on mine, and the body mount is my biggest obstacle; yeah, definitely interested. I know a guy with a 3Dprinter if that helps.

    From model to reality.
    these turned out perfect.
plus side is super easy to fixture-up off the truck burn them together on the weld table and then align and weld to frame

Lmao if your ready to send it ill get you a set. The real test if if the cab buckets will stand the fatigue load in this location. Im already thinking about another redundant triangular gusset behind the new cab bracket

I definitely want to see it in action first. Still super interested, but I've already got enough projects on my hand right now with all new suspension and a full motor rebuild.

Does it seem like the sheet metal on the cab is reinforced where it's current mount location is? I am not sure I saw the whole mount was moving back, I assumed it was a lower profile of the current mount. But I guess that makes sense.

So the way I see it the one corrugated piece will get welded to the cab and hopefully evenly distribute the load there, with a thicker plate also sandwiching the sheet metal. And the frame is one beefy mount protruding off the frame. Only concern I think I have now is if a slider leg might need to be cut/in the way. With a frame mount that wide I can see that being a concern.

I can almost see a leg here:

Without the truck I can't measure but I can kinda get an idea of where the leg hits the frame here:

The factory location (corner of the cab) had alot more structure build in. I’d have to see an un modified cab without a tub to truly confirm this. But by cutting out the corner of my cab it was significantly weakened. On mine i can see where the floor has actually raised up and the Front of my cab is basically resting on my sliders.

You raise a good point there, i did not take into consideration where others mounted their slider legs. I chose this spot because it cleared my slider and is is the next most supported position of the cab

Cab mount relocation project spiraled a bit, progress has been slow, and direction has changed again. Welding brackets to the thin floorbards upside-down underneath the cab proved to be insanely difficult especially with sliders in the way, so I lost faith in my skills to do that. . So I am In the process of rebuilding/ reinforcing the existing cab mount and cab corner so I can maintain factory location, and redoing my my tub because some idiot did a real shit job several years ago :anonymous:
    507557CA-5117-465A-9683-0A3365666CDA.jpg
I’ll be adding one more gusset to brace the front of the corner, then chop/ modify the frame side for maximum clearance

Also (by accident) I discovered my driver side engine mount was no longer connected to the frame
    EA546062-059E-45EB-A01D-6313365A4B10.jpg
the bolt flange ears completely tore from the frame tower.
So engine pull will be happening sooner than expected.
