Robs Autos Lunar Rock TRD OffRoad Build Thread

Hello Everyone!

Going to be building up my Lunar Rock 2022 TRD OffRoad, nothing too crazy. I go to the local trails and all that so I am not making a straight up rock crawler, the truck is also my daily.

I usually only own sports cars, but I sold my 2021 Supra because I got tired of it after a year which lead to the realization that I never own my cars for longer than a year or two. I treat sports cars the same way I do technology, soon as the better thing is out I am usually thinking of upgrading! With that, I figured a Tacoma would be a great "keep forever" car as it is a truck so it has utility, and I enjoy driving higher cars. I aim for this to be the vehicle that stays around as I switch out fun cars over the years.

I will be chronicling the build up there, also doing product reviews and other fun car stuff (I go to meets almost weekly, so you would see plenty of Bay Area meets).



Build Plans:
- Lomax Tonneu Cover (Already have, not installed yet)
- Bilstein 5160/6112 set-up
- 17 inch wheels (Still deciding which ones)
- TRD Pro grill whenever Taco Vinyl has a sale (Not in a hutty)
- ARB Diff Breather (Coming in soon)
- TRD Skid Plate w/ Catalytic Converter guard (Narrowing down the cat guard, waiting for the next Toyota 30% off sale for the skid plate unless I find used)
- Rock Sliders, probably go with the Cali offroad and take a trip out to LA for them and have them installed there too

Added a few small items.

Black Out Emblem covers, black exhaust tip, bed mat, tailgate lettering and the gas cap holder.

 

Did you find anything to black out the grill emblem? I'm looking for it for a 2022 TRD Sport. I've been looking, but can't find anything.

 

Any luck on the TRD skid plate? My dealer is backordered 10 weeks.

 

Not yet, hoping to find one used. In my area there are so many people modding up Tacomas, hoping eventually I find someone who is switching out their plate for an aftermarekt set

Nice build! I bumped into your video of the Miller Cat shield when I was doing research. I too come from performance based cars - M3, M5, 911 and the Taco compliments them all well.

 

Thanks for watching! I am actually looking into a 911 next year if circumstances work out. Looking forward to having the Tacoma around while I own fun cars because I got tired of shoving wheels, exhausts and other dirty car parts into my wife’s forester lol.

I’m hopefully getting the Tacoma tuned this Saturday, look forward to a video on that!
