Continuing my search for the right truck at the right price I call on the forum again. I went over the master list of codes with invoice and msrp numbers which I thank you for posting and updating. We all hate to get ripped off and made to feel bad after a buying experience. Sometimes they go good and sometimes not so good. Like most people I want the best bang for the buck I can get. That means to me that looking at those number and trying to get to the bottom of them. I mean even the Invoice number seems like an almost fair number to pay rather than MSRP of course. Have any or most all on here paid Invoice numbers? What could I expect to pay here in NJ for a Taco., 4x4 Trd Sport, Double Cab (7542J) SB, Mud Flaps and Tow Package. I don't know if you need an appearance package with that setup. So what are you thinking the rock bottom price should be for this Taco. I asked about any special pricing/deals for Memorial Day but they don't seem to wanna play that game. Thoughts opinions please? I'm guessing they aren't too hungry to sell at below prices too often.

While I have your attention, since we are into May, have any of the annoying bugs been worked out of the 3rd Gens yet? Anything really annoying that can't get fixed till next model year comes out?

    Thanks...Howard

Just email all of the dealers in your area that you're willing to travel to. What I did was use google maps searching for Toyota dealers and going to their website and emailing the fleet Dept. Send them the specs of the truck letting them know that you want it for invoice. I know of a dealer in Ohio where you can get close to invoice. If you want that info let me know.

Invoice is fair of course, but if you are seeking out a model that is hard to come by in your area then they have no reason to sell to you for a lower price. I had to travel out of state from California to get a 4x4 manual transmission below MSRP.

No, bugs haven't been worked out and honestly I have little faith they will be for 2017 either. The only really annoying bug right now is the vibrating steering wheel and floorboard/gas pedal if you end up getting it. Or the rumble strip vibration if you travel ~20 mph a lot.

Invoice is great to shoot for, but somebody should play for $500 over with less effort and headache. You have to look around and be willing to travel.

You just have to put a value on your time. My dad will spend 100 hours to save $50 bucks and somehow drag me into wasting time on his decisions too, lol.

I'm in Jersey too (but Northern) and had an exact spec picked out for my truck. TRD sport dcsb manual inferno with tech tonneau and tow packages. That worked against me but a man wants what a man wants. The dealer I bought from wanted full retail initially but I ended up getting it for $2k off sticker. (Had to threaten walking over to the Nissan dealer down the street...) Mapped against truecar I was satisfied with my deal but then my spec was a higher priority than acquisition price. You may feel otherwise since invoice is your goal.

All said I don't envy your search with a popular model that was refreshed this year. But if you're patient you can get circumstances in your favor. Once the summer hits the forthcoming 2017s should make it easier to get deals for trucks on the lots, a sales person might be angling to meet their quota, and knowing they never want you to walk away helps tilt the deal in your favor.

What is it exactly? Some dealers will mark them up and then give you a "discount"

Thanks to all that responded to my post and also to the TW community for all the great information about the 3rd Gen Taco. I made my choice of the Taco, 4x4 DCSB (7542J) with the Towing Package, Mud Flaps and all weather mats in Silver Sky Metallic. It's a beautiful truck! I showed the dealer some of the posts and concerns, specifically about the ATF and U-bolts. They "assured" me they would pay special attention and check those items along with the normal check list for delivery of a vehicle. All I can do is point out these areas and it's up to them to respond. In any event, the truck is under full warranty for 3 years. My OTD price was one that I could live with at $34,000, including all fees, taxes etc. I'm sure some will say I coulda done better. Hard to say with how popular that truck is. I felt good with the deal. I did comparison shopping and this was by far the best I could do in my local area with about a 60 mile radius. Here are a few pics...

Not bad at all for Jersey, my last 2 Tacoma's I went out of state, the Toyota dealers here are terrible, they want close to MSRP and peanuts for your trade. Congrats OP, your OTD was just at sticker price, you should be fine ;)

Really nice Truck...good luck with it...Can't comment on the price, I have a 2nd gen 2013. I looked at a 3rd gen, but didn't like it so I wasn't concerned about the price

Is your truck transmission auto or manual? If it is auto, then you got a heck of a deal. I had to ordered mine and it was $34850 OTD with tax title And fee.

The three dealers I went to here in SNJ wanted more than the MSRP for a DCSB TRD-OR. Claimed that since they were in such demand, they could sell them for that. Just not to me, I went to DE. Now I'm getting the run around from two of those same three dealers service dept's about checking the trans fluid. All they want to do is hook it up to tech-stream which is telling them the fluid level is OK. Neither of them pulled the plug and physically checked.

They offered my $500 over invoice initially on a DCLB OR, then when it came time for trade they wanted to hose me $26k for my 15 DCLB Sport lifted, I laughed hard. Working with a dealer now in another state to see if I can get a better deal, they are already at invoice, just have to get decent on my trade.
