Make sure to insist on an OEM Toyota glass, I've read that their brand leaks.

I had 3 in my 2000 silverado, they all leaked, then I found out they were installing their brand. Traded in for my 13 Taco still leaking.

You might get lucky(?) and it won’t crack anymore. I accidentally ripped my mirror completely off the window and broke a whole chunk out of the glass about half the thickness of the windhsield. It made a few 3/4” cracks off that and it hasn’t spread from there yet. I expected it to have spidered out completely once the temperature dropped but so far it’s holding strong.

That repair would drive me nuts. I’d replace glass even if not free. Mine has a repaired chip w/ no crack & I hate it. My eye goes right to it. Only had truck 6 days, I predict new glass in my near future.

You're getting a free windshield. Might as well drive it and not stress over it. Let the crack grow on its own. Or gently push on it and get the new one sooner.

If you've lived in Idaho long, you know windshields are a wear item.

Turn the defrost up real high with it super cold outside, it'll spread.

I have never been a fan of chip fixes, Just tell Safelite to replace the glass and park it inside for 3 or 4 hours while it cures. Safelite has alway's done me right.

They should be replacing the windshield now.

That's not split, that's full on spiderwebbing out.

I'm not a glass repair pro, but I wouldn't assume Safelite did a poor job.

I had a windshield crack earlier this year and my PDR and windshield repair guy told me it's still likely to cause a crack. It is closer to the edge of the window than yours. Maybe 2 inches lower. He said cracks around the edges, especially by the defrost will be susceptible to continuing to split. It's just life.

This is the real problem, the chip is where the defroster vent hits the glass.

I went through all that a year or so ago. Safelite put on a new windshield & their new style seal with rain channel, didn’t fit right. Even the tech agreed. He said safelite’s aftermarker windshields do not have proper bends/curves & cause noise when driving. Had to contact my insurance company, told them problem & what tech said, they agreed to replace with factory glass & seal.

I appreciate all the feedback, I think I'll get ahold of them again and demand a new windshield because the repair failed

Question.....How much was the repair cost from safelite?

I’ve had a small crack in mine for a few years now...I was going to just leave it but the stupid “Safelite” slogan is stuck in my head...

I’m thinking I’ll just pay them to fix it and maybe the song will go away....

Does that slogan mean Safelite will repair chip & later replace glass free because repair didn’t do the job? :p

I just want to stop hearing that stupid slogan song in my head...

I’m going to have to pay “Cash Call” and “Alarm monitoring for $9.99 a month” after I get my safelite issue taken care of...

This new “Annoy you until you buy our service” advertising has to stop!

My car insurance payed for it in full. Not sure how much it would be if you had to pay it yourself. I would contact your insurance company to see if they will cover it at no expense to you.
