Awesome, good thing you got that before everything slowed down lol. My work isn't essential, had to step down to part time retail because of my disability.

There's a reputable shop a few hours south in BC Canada that carries RCI and I like their quality, I'd been looking at them prior to finding out this shop carried them and I was pretty sold as is. Now it's meant to be lol.

Think running boards but more solid and attached to the frame. The purpose is supporting the weight of the truck and protecting doors/pillars.

I have an OR, and they help quite a bit. If you move to a more aggressive tire, they won’t be enough. Now, there is protective clear film, you can put on certain areas of your truck. You can hardly tell it’s on there, until you get close.

My 2020 came with them, unasked for. They were dropped from the price but left on the truck.

I don't like how they look so mounted them on my wife's 2019 because she wants the protection.

    I don't worry over paint.

2nd gen here, if that matters. Have run mud flaps since I bought the truck new. Also have aftermarket wheels and my tires (Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs) stick out a full inch beyond my fender flares. Not a single rock chip to speak of. I also have sliders and the bottom and sides of those are peppered with rock chips, so I know my tires are throwing rocks. Every couple of days I hear a loud *clink* as a rock smacks my slider. It seems as though my sliders are helping more than my mud flaps.

I put a set of RekGens on mine. Look way nicer than stock IMO. Also, these are a more flexible rubber so you don't need to worry about snapping them off. Colorado county dirt roads are mean to paint without flaps.

Are those Rek Gens the standard or the XL?

Standard. They come with mounting holes that allow you to slide the flap left or right inside the wheel well. I have these maxed to the outside of the fender.

I like the look without flaps, but the benefit of them is real.
Had my 19 for a month without flaps and got some rock damage from traction sand/small rocks on the roads in Colorado ski country. Bought some Ebay Toyota knockoff's for $20 and added some Tyger running boards, have had better luck with stone damage since then. If and when they get damaged off roading I'm out $20.

I have the stock aluminum running boards and they do a pretty good job of keeping my rocker panels chip free.

I thought this might be helpful. Not sure where the ‘I have no chips’ guys are driving but I drive on dirt roads maybe 20% of the time.

I have the nice stock ones. I used to remove them for mostly cosmetic purposes on previousmtacomas. But I like them for the spray and rock chip protection and not being an asshole with road spray and gravel.
