Agree. I'm a distance parker anyway lolll. But true. I went new to tuck away some negative equity I got caught in with my Lexus. And also to avoid the break in Mark's. That's why it stressed me lol

Dad always recommended that when you were at the bottom of a hole it was time to quit digging...............

You should get off this forum before you start spending on mods. 'Cause that's just using a new shovel.

    I hate to say it
But I wouldn’t let it bother you
I bought an OR basically for the same reasons

Hunting / fishing / some trails

But doing some trails turn it into

    Wheeling / wheeling / trails / fishing / hunting

I wheel mostly now but at the same time I still like to fish and hunt and most spots I go to maybe you as well are going to be tight spots so your probably gonna have a lot of pin stripes like myself

Just get a tube of touch-up paint, you are going to need it sooner or later anyway. My 17 was spotless for 16 months, now some jack wagon put a dent in my drivers door and I pinstriped it on a narrow track. By the way don't use the brush that comes in the touch-up tube, buy a tiny hobby brush.

Just remember most people are not so OCD about their new vehicles, or vehicles in general. In the end when you go to sell your vehicle these little items wont matter. Realize you got a better deal buying new then used. Enjoy your truck now, then enjoy the nice chunk of $$$ you make in resale in 5-10 years.

The 'better deal' is always TCO. Which is fine to predict or guess (like lease guys try), but unless you are capable of seeing into the future.........

Sometimes new is a better deal, many times it isn't.

Guess it depends on location and demand for used Tacoma's in your area. I typically buy all my vehicles used, my 18 OR being my first new vehicle. You can get lucky and good deals do pop up but they go fast. Also I am in NY rust is a major concern. Didn't make sense to me to buy a 5 year old Tacoma that has seen 5 years of CNY winters/salt. I spent a ton of time and money fixing/stopping/preventing rust on my 1st gen.

I don't really see the used market for Tacoma's taking a tank anytime soon.

The paint on these new trucks suck. Mine is 6 months old and 12k miles and the paint already looks like my first gen.

Agreed. There are conditions where new is the right choice, if you get the right deal, and the $ delta to used is worth the difference in condition of vehicle. Even better is if you are a long term owner of what you buy new.

So they are actually going to swap it out. They got one in just like it today. I always noticed the plastic fender was scratched up, so that's what finally made me call them again

I have some not so good news for you if your are a bit OCD (and I am). As you wash, wax, detail your new truck, you are going to find other issues...body panels that don't quite align perfectly, body stamping issues (like a wavy line or small depression that should not be in a panel), a rear bumper that might not be perfectly aligned side to side, the pickup box itself not aligned correctly to the cab, the grille cowl might not be aligned side to side, the "Tacoma lean", etc. If it's an Off Road, perhaps the hood adhesive did not bond correctly and the bracing has separated from the hood skin. Then too there will possibly be dust nibs in the paint and of course, there is the notorious Tacoma orange peel...and the list goes on. It is hard being OCD but I have managed for a long, long time. Hang in there.

p.s. I've survived it all. More new cars and trucks than I care to list. None, I repeat "none" were without cosmetic flaws. Three Gen 2 Tacomas came close. By the way, I am age 75 and my heart is still tickin'. :)

p.p.s. Most of us are not really OCD. We are simply perfectionists and tend to be bothered a little when things aren't "right". Real OCD is bad stuff that involves therapy, meds, etc. So if you are not on meds and are not doing therapy, you are simply a "fussy" Tacoma owner....and are the talk of the Toyota dealership.
