As CEO and Chairman of the Board of the WOCDA (World OCD Association o_O), the chips would drive me nuts for a while. I got one on my '17 DCSB, and repaired it immediately. Of course not a week into ownership, a kicked up, steel fuel line hit my front bumper going over a bridge, but fortunately, just took out the driving light cover, so I replaced it. Just like working on something, it won't go smoothly until blood is drawn, so you have to get over it at some point.

Thanks for sharing! I actually have real OCD. Which I never use as an excuse and I am a huge mental illness advocate. So sadly, when its little things like this, I do come across as just someone way to anal about their vehicle or other smaller things. Youd be surprised how hard it is to get off your mind though, even if its small. But yes, I am now the new talk of the dealer lol! I'm in sales myself so I knew how to address it, and was very nice. Or else I dont think they would have switched it again for me, luckily. But yes, you are right. It is tough to deal with. I've just lost a grasp on it the past couple or years. But bouncing back.

Well if you are actually OCD i would deff get that shit fixed. If you are just some guy saying some shit about some shit i would let it go.

The best thing you can do is work the truck and use it up! In 20 years if it's still perfect you didn't get your money's worth out of it. That's the way I try to approach it. Same thing with hunting rifles and other tools. Unless you plan to polish it and lean it against a wall, it's going to get dropped, scratched, and dirty! If it doesn't why bother? Like buying a hammer to look at and not hit things.

Quite a thread over just a paint chip. I should talk. I went over my 2018 Sport for over 1 1/2 hours in both sunlight and florescent lighting. I saw one paint nib in the hood...a very small dust nib that I could live with. Finally a near perfect truck. However at the first detail, I found a speck on one fender that I thought was road tar. Nope it was a paint nib the had been sanded down at the factory. (My dealer prep department doesn't sand stuff...ever.) The nib was leveled and the remains of speck of dust was gray. No touching that up without making it worse. Then I noticed what appeared to be a small dent on the front edge of the hood where it meets the headlight. How could that happen on just this hard edge? Possibly a stamping flaw when the when the hood was being formed? Yep, after driving 30 miles to my dealer just to check it out, I found that several Sports had the same flaw. And to think one of the reasons that I bought a Sport was to avoid the possible hood problems on the Off Roads. Maybe I am more than a perfectionist and should join the World OCD Association after all. Whatever...I am glad the everything worked out for the OP.

I am so confused right now, what is it?
    - went back to Sport
    - kept the beat-up MGM OR with paint holes
    - dealer gave you another taco (what state condition?)
    - gave up and bought a Ford F150
    - Traded the F150 for a Chevy Colorado

Even worse than rock chips is when they scratch the truck on the 5000 mile service. Fortunately, I was able to buff it out of the clear coat with some Mother's plastic polish. I won't be going back to Toyota for the free service intervals.

If it were the first truck I would say don’t take it. That swap deal is not common (Are they ever:)).

Give them a little latitude for “exchanging” like Amazon.

Keep it and move on. The rest of us OCD’s would have been left with a chip free Sport with no tech.

My 2015 has 40,000 miles and no rock chips on the doors. Paint is oddly durable. Can’t find any on the front plastic bumper cover either. Hood is another story.

I'd buy the touchup kit from Dr. Colorchip. I've used it and it has worked wonders. GL op.
