Good Afternoon, i want to talk about an issue i have been having with a company regarding the rock sliders i have bought from them. I am not going to post the companys name at the end, i want to leave all bias aside for now.

Firstly i bought Rock sliders from them worth $1,100 which i installed myself. After installation i noticed an issue that the rock sliders were clanking on something, whenever i would drive on bumps it would do a clanking noise and only from the Drivers side. I noticed that there was not a big enough gap from the rock slider and door panels which was causing the clanking noise. Pictures below:

Anyways, i decided to call this company to see if they could un-install and and install them back on because maybe i had made a mistake somewhere in the drivers side( Bolt on sliders) i was charged $250 for the installation while i left my truck with them the whole day when i was at work.

After they had installed them, on the drive home, it was still making the same clanking noise and the gap was still the same.

Therefore i message the company on Instagram and showed him the pictures and the company said that when the sliders where manufactured they might have measured and welded them wrong, But not to worry because replacements will be made and sent to me. So i was happy with their quick response. I immediately e-mailed the company as told by the person on instagram, on august 5th repleacement sliders were put into place.

I asked if i could get a refund on my $250 of the installation since i figured if they were defective i could at least get my money back on installation. Since i had originally done it myself and could of done it myself if they were made correctly. Ive dont suspension work and everything done to my truck so rock sliders would be a piece of cake.

Anyways i was denied the refund of the $250... at this point i was okay, at least i will still have my replacement rock sliders. On August 5th i was told it would take up to 4 to 5 weeks to have them completed for me, end of September around that time i contacted them that i would prefer to have a refund instead of the replacement since it had already been way more than 5 weeks i didnt feel satisfied that i couldnt get a refund on the $250. Over the phone i was told that the best they can do is give me replacements and that they could not give me a refund because they dont know if i damaged them when i transported them on my truck when i picked them up from their location to riverside to my house and they they couldnt refund me either because i could of been the one who damaged them.

I have every single email and the instagram conversation regarding the gap of the sliders.

I am going to try my best to post all of them in the next hour while im at work.

How do you guys feel about this?

The only reason i am taking it up on here is because ive tried talking to them 3 times over the phone and drove up to riverside from anaheim to discuss in person that i do not want replacement. I was a refund!

The replacement were not ready until the week of october 15th and they were put in on august 5th. I have not posted this on tacomaworld earlier because i barely came back from my honeymoon.

Does look close. I would worry that if you land on a rock the sliders they will flex and are going to hit the body.

Edited: Best picture I have showing the space between my sliders and truck body.

My opinion won't be popular, but here it is:
    1. When you installed the sliders yourself you "accepted" them. If you had a problem with the fitment you should have addressed it immediately. The manufacturer is correct in that they don't have any idea what you've done to these sliders.
    2. Taking the truck to the manufacturer to fix your "possible" incorrect installation is nothing more than a service request. They will gladly put billable man hours into this for you at your request. I have learned through experience that companies hesitate, fight, and sometimes flat decline a refund on labor charges. That is 100% cash lost.
    3. If the sliders were manufactured incorrectly, and the manufacturer admits it, you should be entitled to new sliders as it sounds they have offered.
    4. I don't think 5 weeks is inappropriate to build new sliders considering what is going on. I ordered Shrockworks sliders in Feb and received them July 15. I ordered a Southern Style bumper on Feb 6 and received it on July 17. These companies are going through all the same materials/supply/labor problems as the rest of the world. We truly should give them some slack. Anything that is custom built takes time.
    5. If I were in your shoes, I'd remove the defective sliders, wait for my new ones to be built, and try to negotiate a reduced rate labor charge to install. Split the injustice...$125 to install my new ones sounds fair.

These things always suck, but in the end, you wanted sliders, you got replacements, so you are really only out the 250. It would be ideal if all companies would stand by their products and assume something built to hold the weight of your truck going over rocks most likely wasn’t bent or deformed by you during transportation or install, and they should have seen the fitment wasn’t correct when they did the install. But it sounds like they aren’t willing to eat it, so you might just accept the $250 loss and move on. It’s not worth your energy. Best of luck

The fix up they already did was to have replacement sliders made for me.

Yea, it’s ok to share names. You didn’t exactly bash them. Product and customer service reviews are helpful.

It does not matter which company it is. That is not the point of the post. For those who know then great, for those who have not bought from them wont know. I do not care if theres people who can recognize their name on those pictures.

it actually kind of does. This guy got some faulty sliders, had to pay $250 to confirm this, and the company won’t give him his $250 back or do anything to make up for it? It’s nice for people to post situations like this so you know what kind of company and customer service your dealing with. I may not avoid this company but would probably do a little more research about a product I might be interested in from them just from reading this post.

Sorry you had to deal with this. Lots of other companies make great sliders and stand behind their products. You live and learn!

From what i have witness, if you are hiding something, people will focus all their attention towards it and do everything in their power to pry it from you. Side questing the original issue.

I know i too wanted to also know. Torch and pitchfork hasn't seen action recently.

I am not hiding anything other than names, i did not want new customers to be turned off from this company off the bat. What i wanted were opinions of what people think of this situation without harming potential clients for this company. For the people who know who the company is then great but for those who are new and dont know, i dont want to turn them off the company off the bat.

I can post same pictures with the names on their, but again that was not the point.

I appreciate this, as many people just blast a company before even trying to resolve the issue. In your case, you have worked with them to resolve the issue. It’s more than fair to them and the members here to share all the info. It just allows people to have more info when making a decision on expensive items. Maybe the next person will know not to let them install for 250 if they have similar fitment issues. No harm here.

I'd let it go. They're sending you a new set. Install it yourself, done. I wouldn't stress over it, just accept it and move on. This thread is likely only going to stress you out.
