My guess, based on the FEA of similiar designs, is it's the mounting plate. It's for this reason we add all the other features to our mounting plates to attach hen to the frame.

You guys don't have a mounting plate, it's a freakin mounting system. Very well engineered.

I have the @allpro Apex sliders, and just the other day i tried lifting the truck using the sliders, and it was lifting it but it was also flexing to the point that the squared pipes (if that's what they're called) filled the 1/4"-3/8" gap between the slider and the cab pinch weld. And i think at that point it was just lifting it from the pinch weld, so i quit and let the truck down. Anyone have any input and experience with something similar? Maybe its normal, these are my first ever sliders. I'm positive its not a lack of bolts, its the slider thats flexing up from the squared tubes.

Put a video on it to see where it's moving from. There is always going to be a little movement, but if you are not comfortable with how much it is moving then you can try and fix what you got or get different sliders.

I was looking at the way they mount to the frame and wondered if it might be that plate that bolts to the frame. that with the small amount of flex from the support legs might give that movement

Option one is live with it as is

Option 2 notch the pinchweld to give you more room.

Option 3 after seeing where the movement comes from, reinforce sliders accordingly.

Option 4 different sliders. My suggestion is mobtown, yes I have their sliders and they are beefier than the Weldon sliders I had in my crawler. My crawler had trail gear sliders welded to the frame, added plates to frame and gussets to legs attaching frame side and slider side. Mine flexed so I notched the pinchweld to create clearance and that was how I ran it for years.

Love your sliders? I love the look, the ones I was going to get from Slee Off Road here in Colorado seem to get rust because they have bolts holding the plates on. Do you foresee any possibility of rusting or anything?

Yes. Just got them today. They are VERY substantial. Surprisingly clean too. They almost look like Stainless enough that I would consider clear coat if I had a different color truck. I have to paint them and install them, but initial impression is good. I ordered last week and they showed up today.

X2. APEX model has DOM. I liked the shape of the kick-out, super strong mounting design, and that they come with a cap. Am planning to powder coat.

Yup, requires you to drill a few holes in the frame to support the weight of the truck though.

@Mobtown Offroad Great thread OP! I've been tossing around the same question and researching like crazy for bolt on sliders and this photo of the DCLB with fill plates solidified my decision. The clincher for me is that you've got Hawaii roots. Can we put together a group buy? What's the shipping to Las Vegas, NV zip code 89117?

One thing to keep in mind is the body to frame movement, a lot of what appears to be give in the slider could very well just be the body and frame moving differently as you come down on the rock. The body mounts on newer vehicles are extremely soft and allow a fair bit of movement.
You can even see the cab moving differently from the bed in the video.
I'm not familiar with cbi slider design but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the video.

I have seen many sliders being hit and built many as well, I have never seen cbi sliders in person so I can not say that the slider is built well or not. What I can say is you can clearly see the cab moving independently from the bed which is hard mounted to the frame, typically even if a slider were to hit the body it will hit the pinch weld which is actually pretty strong! In the rock crawling world it is a prett common practice to have the slider close enough to the pinch weld that on a hard hit it will come to rest on the pinch weld.
My current sliders on my 2016 have about 3/16"-1/4" of clearance to the pinch weld and hit every once in a while on a rough road, my point is the body's move a lot on these trucks so no matter how ridged the armor is it will move differently from the body upon impact.
