    I really need a set of rock sliders for my '09 DC SB...

    I wheel alot here in the CO mountains...

    I would like a set of bolt-on sliders to be able to remove them for repair and/or refinishing...

    Take me to school on the bolt-on and weld-on sliders...

    bolt-on vs weld-on is a never ending argument...

    some say welding is stronger...so say welding to the frame weakens that point...

    if done right i would think the argument is null

    cbi also makes really nice ones...and being in colorado...there should be plenty of local fab shops that can build you what you want

    I've checked them out, and they just seem a little expensive for the bolt-on sliders...

    I also think that once you get them bolted up, you may not want to remove them just to refinish them. I have weld on sliders that im planning to put on when i get time. If they get scratched or what not while on the ruck i am just going to fix it on the truck.

    Bolt on are always going to be more expensive. They need sleeves, bolts, and what not. Thats another advantage to the weld on

    I know...

    I'll probably end up with weld-on's, Obviously I would pre paint them, but touch up would have to be done w/ a brush or roller to avoid overspray... :confused:

    Or just hold up cardboard behind the spot you are spraying.

    That is semi-effective... But unless you mask the truck completely with plastic, overspray finds its way onto other paint surfaces... I'm pretty finicky...

    Try trail gear sliders i got mine from ECGS east coast gear supply for bout $250 or $275.00 bolt on unfinished I rhino lexed mine this weekend.:) However, in order to get them to fit you're going to have to shave a bolt and tap or drill the holes into your frame yourself:D lots of work:eek: i was starting to drill the holes and found it easier to take them to the weld shop.$100.00

    So you welded on your bolt-on sliders?

    I have access to a full welding shop at work, and I've done a fair amount of cutting/welding... I wonder if I could just get some weld-on sliders and modify them myself to be bolt-on?

    Looks easy but i dont have skills like that I guess before welding the gussets you would just drill the holes into them?

    I would do weld on, But I would also add a 3/16 plate along the side of the frame then weld it to that for added strength to the frame.

    +1- Make sure it's not a high wind day or an real enclosed space...Use a decent size piece of cardboard and you are good to go.

    I've touched up tires, frame, grill. and painted my sliders after install and the only time I masked off was for the sliders. Painting the pinch weld and another coat for the sliders in the near future that I'll mask off for.

    I prefer the bolt on option. Should you ever decide to sell your truck you can simply take them off without cutting stuff up. If I decide to weld them on later I still have that option.

    Mine are bolted and welded :) They are not going anywhere. To touch up the paint cut open trash bags and tape them down the side of the truck from the top window down to the pinch weld.
