You're right. Just offering an affordable selection.

    $785 for kickout and plates.

You know welders aren't single use items, right? It's really quite amazing that one can even come close to breaking even on something as simple as sliders. I easily broke even on my DIY bumper kit, and when you add in my sliders, skids and various other projects, the welder, even my new welder that cost 2x what my old one did has more than paid for itself.

It really seems like people are desperate to pay a premium for some recognizable brand name widget they saw on instagram, when more than likely there's a fab shop down the street that'll build you a fully custom set less, especially if you're paying $300 to ship that giant piece of steel to your door step. There's a shop in town here that'll build you a fully custom DOM tubing kickout slider for like $600. $700 for plates with dimple dies.

Even still, that's a lot of coin, and I'm willing to put in a few weekends here and there to build exactly what I need to save a few bucks. Plus I like the process of building. Built not bought.

You do you no foul in being able to do it yourself or having the skills and tooling to do so.

I was only offering a cheaper alternative to those in the thread that were chocking on the high cost of sliders. I facetiously added in the cost of my welder (even though I had it long before I did the sliders) only to illustrate that even buying an expensive tool in order to DIY still ends up saving money in the long run.

Does it save time? No, probably not, but I at least enjoy the process. Will my sliders win any awards on Weldporn? Oh god no. But they saved me a bunch of money.
