We offer two different types of tubing for our rock sliders and roll cages, HREW and DOM.
The HREW stands for Hot Rolled Electric Welded. This tube starts as a strip of flat plate that is heated, rolled, and welded into a tube shape. The shape of the tube is determined by the rollers that roll it and no second operations are performed. It is also typically rolled from a softer steel.
The DOM stands for Drawn over Mandrel. First off, DOM IS still welded seam tubing, just because you can't see the weld seam doesn't mean it isn't there. The only tube that is seamless is actually called Seamless Tubing. Seamless is VERY expensive and mostly only stainless steel or large tube sizes. Don't let others fool you about that. DOM starts it's life as either HREW or CREW (Cold Rolled), depending on who is rolling it, that has been rolled oversize. That oversize tube is then sent through a die and mandrel that shape the tube into it's final size. This process is done cold which work hardens the steel, making it significantly stronger. The process of resizing and cold working the tube gives a more uniform shape and size and smooths the weld seam. The DOM we use is also made from a higher grade steel that is stronger to start with. Over all the DOM is going to be around 30% stronger than the HREW tube.
DOM is significantly more dent resistant and is strongly recommended as the material of choice for heavier trucks such as the Tacoma. It is also strongly recommended as the material of choice for any roll cage. The draw back is that it has a higher cost than HREW (that just jumped 18% in the last month).

Thanks for making me write it down, I've been meaning to for a long time...

Correct the DOM we use is not annealed, so it keeps the extra strength gained from the cold working.

Haha no problem! I understand all of that only because I'm an engineering student. 3 years ago that wouldn't have meant nearly as much to me haha. Funny when you get to use what you've studied in real life situations

We do offer expanded steel fill plates that add the additional area for a step yet don't add a lot of weight and are open so water and debris will not get trapped. Adding the expanded steel fillers is $79 for sliders 76" or less in length or $99 for 80" and longer sliders. This option is not on the website so give me a call if you'd like to add that.

Here's a photo of the Tacoma Bolt On sliders with the expanded steel filler.

Good question. I've yet to get photos of this little dude, but it is an additional attachment for the back of the bolt on sliders that will protect your front spring hanger. The bracket bolts on using the lower slider mounting bolt and is held in place by an alignment pin. The alignment pin engages the slider mounting plate to keep it from spinning.

I'll get some pictures this afternoon, but here's a quick shot of the cad model.
