    Yeah, why ?
Mine are bolt-on and they don't move at all, seem to be as strong as my buddies weld-on, obviously weld on ones would have more attachment, but as I said, the bolt-on ones are plenty strong.

I remember reading through another post regarding sliders. It was mentioned that for them to truly support the weight of the vehicle comming down on objects such as rocks that they would need to be welded otherwise they would be more inclined to either bend at the attachment points or potentially sheer the bolts.

If I am wrong I apologize for providing mis-information.

I think you are correct that weld on is obviously stronger than bolt on , but both can be used to lift the truck so the difference is probably minimal with the correct amount of fasteners .

Bolt on does give some flexibility for removal to re-paint etc .

FWIW I am considering sliders after my latest door dent. In my case they are not intended as sliders but as "If you open your door hard I am going to F it up" bars.

    I hear that .

For your intentions the Avid bolt ons might be an option , look like sliders , protect from door dings , but mount like running boards to the factory bolt holes , no frame drilling / welding

Thanks everyone for your input and it was very informative and helpful. Now I just have to decide on which style I want and where I'm going to purchase them. I'm looking forward to accessorizing my Toy! :D

    Weld-on for 1st gen. Tacos. Bolt-on for 2nd gens.

Reason? 2nd gen Taco frame is double-walled. Weld-on sliders can over-stress the outer wall. Look under your truck - all the leaf spring hangers and crossmembers are riveted.
