Whatever you do, don't weld anything to your frame, exchange those sliders!...

Sometimes you have to use leverage. Seemed like the mounting point was only off by a bit.

    Do those "sliders" still look like this;

Before you put one more hole in, or touch those pieces of crap one more time...

I want you to watch this video,
they were testing other things, but it will give you a MUCH better idea of what really happens.

Look at the flex that HEAVIER sliders have vs those little "mall-sliders"

That slider design above is basically just a rock "skid-pad" that is just putting all the force on the pinch weld area, those little tubes to the frame won't do anything significant.
You don't want all that kinetic energy point loaded into your pinch weld.

I'd like to see them TRY a drop test like they did in that video with that design. Would not be pretty.

Better than a set of nerf bars,
but certainly not a good design concept for Tacoma rock sliders.

Would you put a 2x4 under your pinch weld and jack the truck up that way?
Well that is less weight over a larger area than if you actually hit something...

Now imagine all that weight x4 (or more) going through a bolt hole in your pinch weld. Because that flimsy tubing is not going to distribute the load along the pinch weld let alone transfer anything to the frame.

REAL rock sliders will have a LOT more reinforcement to transfer the forces to the frame and to also reinforce the frame,
these are the ones I have on my truck,
(they also have extra brackets and clamps to wrap and box the frame).

In fact most of the "Rock Sliders" I've seen promoted on this site would fail that drop test.
    I call them "mall-sliders".

Send those pieces of crap back,
unless you are just looking for steps or light duty "mall sliders".

Those are not rock sliders. And they are asking you to hack work on their hack design.

Nice, but I am usually only gonna misjudge by a smidge.

For moderate wheeling do you guys think the rocky road sliders would hold up? I won’t be dropping the truck on rocks at free fall but would like a little more protections. Would probably just be scraping every now and then. Their website says it does use triangulation mounting.
