I am planning to put sliders on the truck at some point- more to use as steps and ward off door dings.
I seen a post on here where the guy had to pick all the frozen road slush and ice out of his sliders. Does everyone (in cold nasty weather locations) with sliders have to deal with this issue?
I was planning on fill plates with the swagged holes and started to wonder if putting the same fill plate on the bottom of the slider and then weld a tube to connect the top swagged hole to the bottom swagged hole. Fully weld them out so that they are sealed. Lots of extra welding and a bit more weight but I think these would be better for winter than what is available now.

I have expanded diamond shape heavy metal sheet as filler on mine and haven't run into any problems. Old truck had running boards and they were fine too. Snow will build up along the front of the mud flap but not too bad on the sliders. I'm about 20 miles from the coast so the snow tends to be a bit sticky vs the dryer stuff further inland.

Snow/ice packs up under mine a bit but it's never been an issue. It usually melts off on its own within a week (just not cold enough consistently here to have it build up more).

I don't see how a 2nd fill plate would prevent that though.

I get plenty of snow and ice and mud buildup on mine, but its not really ever been an issue. Usually melts off pretty quick. Worst case, I swing by one of those DIY carwash bay places and hit it with the powerwasher real quick. Mobtown sliders with fill plates for reference.

Sounds like it is a none issue.

    Thanks.
