Thanks! Will add to the list. Are the trail editions still usable as a step to get in/out of a cab even with the angle?

The trail editions are extremely tucked towards the frame of the truck. We have had a ton of people need a step that wanted the trail edition that eventually switched their opinion. I'm going to attached the difference of the two below. The top one is the step edition and the bottom is the trail edition. let us know if you have any questions.

Those that are stating the L-bracket mount style is superior do not entirely know what they are talking about. L-bracket mount or not, the most important factor for slider mounting strength on a Tacoma is clamping force, essentially sandwiching the frame which this can be accomplished with either flush or L-bracket style mounts. I have RSG sliders and they are built similar to Budbuilt sliders which both utilize a flush mount with beefy backing plates to accomplish the "sandwiching" and distributing the force/weight. Budbuilt has a good article on their website I put below that entails some benefits of a flush mount.

Another important factor for choosing sliders is choosing some that have a full frame mounting plate, this is ideal for weight distribution and overall rigidity and honestly this is probably more important to consider than flush vs L-bracket mounting. My RSG's have been beaten on and supported the weight of the truck many times and I have never had any issues. Plus I like how much they poke out, I am on 35x12.5x17 with -14 offset true beadlocks and my sliders stick out almost as much, the kick out does for sure. Don't let anyone talk you out of RSG sliders, they are SOLID and I highly recommend them! Budbuilt is a good choice as well but the lead times were quite a bit longer than RSG's, though this was almost two years ago.

Please, try using those Predator steps to pivot around an immobile boulder or to jack the truck up and see what happens...

I've seen the front step of the Predators sheared off before, but lengthwise the tube seemed OK. I personally sat my truck down on the passenger front step at low speeds, it bent it backwards about a 1/4". While structurally there was no visible damage to the cab or the tube, it dug into the hard packed ground and essentially got me stuck - couldn't move forward without ripping it off, couldn't back up as it was dug in. Had to wait for a RZR to yank me back out of the pit :anonymous:

I think you missed my point. I was quoting someone who was concerned about mounting to their frame. I was comparing the strength of the cab metal to the frame metal.
