This is a great feed, I am glad I stumbled on it. The 4runner experience has me relatively sold on sliders! Although the context on newer cars and their abilities to explode is good info too.

Another thing to consider it the sliders are directly attached to the frame. I could foresee a hit that would impact the slider in such a way that it could cause frame damage that otherwise wouldn't have occurred on a stock vehicle.

Good rule of thumb is there is nothing safer than a modern car in completely stock condition. Billions of research dollars and the deaths of over 3 million Americans have culminated in the features included in a car rolling off the assembly line today and nobody in their backyard or local off-road/welding shop is going to do anything to improve that safety. Anything you add will probably increase your risk in one way or another, up to you to decide what risk is worth it.

Personally I don't think sliders are a big deal and have them on my daily driver.

Me to, now. When I started this tread I hadn't installed them yet. I figured that their would be more stories (hopefully with pictures) of what actually happens in this type of crash with sliders on the victim.

Maybe that speaks to how rare it is.

Wow those Mob Town sliders look pretty beefy, they should use those pictures on their website to promote their products.

I’m pretty sure those weren’t MobTown sliders. They are Demello.

Oh I thought they were Mob Town because of this quote from one of the first post on this thread:

Edit: It looks like you were right they are Demello, I went on their website and found them, it looks like their one of these:

Rock Crusher Bolt On Sliders: https://www.demello-offroad.com/tacoma-2016-2018-rock-crusher-bolt-on-sliders

    or

    Dominator Bolt On Sliders: https://www.demello-offroad.com/tacoma-2016-2017-dominator-bolt-on-sliders

The only thing I dont see is the kickout option like in the picture that he posted but Wow! these sliders look pretty beefy.

As you know now those aren’t Mobtown’s. We have a bunch of similar pictures that have been sent to us, but it wouldn’t be responsible to use them. Promoting them as a crash safety item would be a liability for us and possibly put our customers at risk. Nevertheless, it’s impressive.
