This. IMO, neither steps or sliders help me much with getting in/out of the truck. I have to bend down so far to keep my head from hitting the roof.

Sounds like @Mobtown Offroad might be a good fit for you. Looks like they're currently standard at 0°

    upload_2020-10-12_9-35-18.jpg

Their slider have changed since I got mine though. I was able to get a set at 10° but I think they used to be angled much closer to the cab (15°?) . If I could have done it over I probably would have gotten the original angle as I think it would have had enough purchase to use as a step and just looks better. It definitely makes my truck look lower :(

E5FC8098-736C-48BD-B4BE-38BE31DFD72E.jpg I have a DCLB and my sliders were made with a 0* off set and hade filler plates installed. Works great as a step

I'm sure it's possible to find a local welding/fab shop and show them what you want. It was only 2.5 hour drive for me to get these installed, $500. They can reach out to Okee Built Fabrication on FB and ask.

They definitely look nice! Those are the 10 degree, you said? do they have photos of the 0 and 15 on their site?

    Very nice, who made yours?

They look nice but the don't offer powder coating, and I'm seeing two different distances sticking out of the truck in their photos, but I'm not seeing any differentiation between the two in the ordering page.

Noticed you're in MD so I'll second the suggestion for Mobtown Off road, they're in Delaware and I'll probably be getting sliders from them since I could pick them up.

Not true in all circumstances. Mine were custom fit; I had my sliders pushed out a bit to be used as steps and most importantly, to protect the cab from tree trunks in the tight PNW trails.

Sliders saved my cab many times when wheeling.

I’m not an expert but from what I’ve seen, either bolt on or weld. If you go bolt on, make sure it’s custom for your generation taco. Sounds like you might need the weld option.

I always recommend sliders over steps. Many have a kick out and step option

I like theirs, a lot! I may have to reach out to them since they're only an hour or so away from me, great spot!

I get it. That's why I said "most" and not "in all cases". Personally, I would never have bought sliders that stick out more than 3-4" from the body, but everyone is different.

That would be my recommendation too. Shipping big heavy chunks of steel is not cheap.

I don't blame you. Me, my biggest reason for wanting a step component is that when I get in and out, I tend to slide across the left seat mound, I guess you could call it? I have seat covers, but don't want to keep killing that seat hump. Plus, since I have a roof rack, I want to be able to close the doors and use something to stand on so I can reach for access. If I didn't have a roof rack, or I was going to have an overlanding tent up top which has it's own ladder, I probably wouldn't need the step portion.

I'm loving my Brute Force Fab sliders. I have the fill plates, and had my buddy weld them on flat (they came with an angle). I use them to help pack my Habitat, and it'll be great for accessing a roof rack once I get one. Using as a step is kinda awkward though, since you step UP onto it, then feel like you are climbing DOWN into the cab. They definitely work for it though.

As long as you are ok with having them welded on, I think Brute Force Fab is a great option that is very reasonably priced. I pasted a screenshot below from their website for pricing.

That's not terrible at all, if I want them welded on. Definitely cheaper than most of the other options I've seen. I would have to find someone in the area to do my welding.
