Great point! It may come down to bottom dollar sales on Black Friday. I forgot that's right around the corner...

If you have them custom fabbed up you can build them to your liking. I made my own (I have all the fab tools anyways) and I built them to be 0* and stick out about 4.5" in order to act as a step. I also made them a bit longer than most so it goes tire to tire. I also used 2" main tube for aesthetics. I don't really like the look of 1.5-175" tubing on tacos for bumpers /sliders or anything else. The ratios look off I think.

I still need to add gussets. I'm going to incorporate 2 bottom crossmembers which will be a 2"x 0.5" square tube that will bolt to both the pass and drivers side sliders (acting like a cross member). This will be in tension as the rock slider is "loaded" giving them more bolt on strength thus relieving the frame rails from some of the load. The cross members will also act as mounting points for a skid plate.

Damn that's a great idea. If I had any sort of experience or skill with AtutoCAD or welding, hell any sort of metal fab, I would be ALL about that!

If cost is not a factor and you're primarily using them as steps look into getting them in aluminum, wish I did.

I hunted for a used set. Took two years but a local guy sold me his Slee Off-road Zero degree sliders with fillers for a fantastic price.

My kids love them. Malls fear them. Tire rotation is much easier. IMG_20201012_152315810.jpg

Those are definitely very nice. I'll have to keep watching the FB Marketplace, and expand to Craigslist.

I got these OCF sliders on Amazon for 800.00 shipped. They can ship them by UPS since they are 2 piece and are bolted together. Light weight, about 100 pounds all together. definitely not what I would use if I was actually rock crawling. they have saved my rocker panels a few times on the ATV trails out in the desert. They're not the best steps but they do help me get in and can actually help me get out to an extent. I don't know if they're still on Amazon or not?

Step by step you can acquire tools (used some times). Just start off by building bumpers and sliders for u and your friends. 220v mig welder , grinder and a chop saw is all u really need at first (all that under 500 bucks ) I’ve built a few roll cages and LT suspensions over the years and each time u get a bit better and add a few more tools like benders band saws and plasma cutters.

CAD is nice if you send off plans to be cut out and welded together like puzzle pieces.

I think the ppl complaining about stepping into their trucks are 5ft tall lol. I rarely step on my slider cause like you pointed out its awkward. I use it all the time though to get up to my roof rack.

These are best you can get and 20% off the rest of October. They take awhile to make, but worth it.

Yea. I don’t intend to offend anyone, but I don’t really get it. I’m 5’8” and my wife is 5’2”. We are short. My truck is lifted on 33’s. It’s a typical height. Neither of us have an issue getting in. If she complains I’d probably leave her at home so maybe that’s why she doesn’t speak up. My 4 and 6 yr old get in on their own too.

I understand if you are older or have a physical limitation, but I’m always surprised by the number of people that complain about the difficulty of getting in a Tacoma.

I don't know if anyone is saying it's difficult, per se. More like "It's easy to write with a mechanical pencil; it's even easier to write with a traditional pencil." So it's fairly easy to ingress/egress the vehicle; it is evene easier to do so with a step.

I step over mine (I’m around 5’9”) but my wife 5’ uses it, kids use them which helps keep them from hanging on the doors to pull themselves up. The door hinges will probably appreciate it. They don’t need to crawl across the floor either. Nothing like the kids tracking dog shit into your truck on their shoes then sliding around on it with their clothes to spread it to your seats because they can’t step into the truck lol.
