Painted up the Explore-Overland sliders the other day.

    Let the paint dry ..

    Installed them today!

The install went without a hitch (I do have a lot of tools ;-)

I used milk crates to set the sliders up to height to get the first bolt in. (beer wasn't cold enough to get the neighbor to come over I guess)

All the stuff that needed to come off to do the install went back on.

Feel very sturdy! And the wife likes 'em. Win!!

Derick at Explore=-Overland is a good guy! There was hot pizzia in the shop when I picked the sliders up!

If you are looking for sliders in the NE. They are in central NY state!

    Happy camper!

Lots of good options on this thread. Any others to consider (e.g. white knuckle offroad)? I've noticed that some are quite a bit less expensive than others (e.g. Avid, Brute Force). Any comments on these less expensive options?

I'm very happy with my Cali-Raised sliders. They've taken some huge hits and haven't skipped a beat, also they look great. Very heavy duty

Also rocking the CaliRaised step sliders. Install was pretty easy, they have taken a few hard knocks without a problem and the customer service has been great.

I live close to their shop and have stopped by a couple times, the staff is very helpful!

Also a fan of the CaliRaised. They've taken quite a beating, still straight, no dents. Only regret is not getting the kick outs - have body damage on both sides that could've been prevented. Live and learn.

+1 more for @CaliRaisedLed -- if you're in TX it's great that you can go pick them up and get some inspiration from the rigs in the parking lot. I went with the weld-on and have beat them pretty good - solid.

Xo-Fab in Enumclaw, Washington for the best price. Diy kit runs around $260, so you weld them up how you want. Mine are slowly bending and denting, but any slider will dent and bend with enough force. One thing, is that I literally hate slider kickouts, at least in the rocks. You will get hung up on them if you are wedged hard enough, and they will try to pivot the truck in ways that I usually don't want.

Are you using the 25 degree or the 0-degree step sliders? My concern is that they don't stick out far enough on the 25 degrees. Might ding the door.

Sorry for the late response. I have the 25 degrees. The doors have been fine so far, and I've banged the sliders good. You can see on the first picture where the rocks scratched up the side of the slider but didn't hit the door and these were pretty tall rocks, at least a foot above the sliders. The 2nd picture is where the kick outs would've helped. If I were to do it over again I would still get the 25 degree sliders, but with the kick outs.Slider1.jpg Slider2.jpg

And in this image alone, I am sold on kickouts. I was leaning against designing my own with them, but yeah.....that woulda been valuable there!

For sure! Glad someone is learning from my mistake. Working on a way to add durable kickouts to these sliders. Other than that that, I really like them. Very tough.

I dig my RSG sliders, they're mostly known in the 4runner world but in recent years they started offering them for Tacoma's. I like them as they extend farther down the truck that most other sliders, most usually stop near the back door/cab where these extend slightly beyond the cab/bed gap plus these also stick out a little bit more than a lot of others out there. Solid protection but not very common in the Tacoma community.

    Appreciate the photos OP!

Still on the fence between these, RCI, Cali, or RRW. So far RCI wins out on pricing and they’re DOM to boot. Surprisingly they’re shipping is also cheaper than everyone else’s ($112 to CA). Anyone got experience with RCI? I do like that the RSG extends a bit further back beyond the cab. Choices, choices, choices….
