Sub'd. Thinking about buying sliders soon. It's down to Mobtown vs Relentless. Just waiting for a good deal.

Edit: I guess Mobtown doesn't have sliders for a first gen. :boink: That narrowed down my search.

Wow, first time owner here ('16 TRDOR DCSB) and the options are a bit overwhelming. Thank you all for your insights and pictures. Looking for 100% Bolt-on, with kick-out and filler plates are going to be costly.

Just a question about filler plates for those who have them and those who don't: do kids do better with filler plates than without? I don't have small kids but I want to be sure a foot doesn't go through and hurt someone.

Looks like Demello are $565 with powder coating but no filler plates, MetalTech is $599 with powder coating but no filler plates, Mobtown $775 with fill plates and bare, and Relentless is $648 bare ($808 for powder coated) for kick out-out but doesn't offer a filler plate with the kick-out. I think I have all that correct.

Now, shipping is another thing entirely. If I were to keep it local, does anyone know of someone in the South Central Gulf Coast area? I'll ask around locally too but looks like most of these would come from the West Coast and I'm sure shipping isn't cheap on these.

We are in Maryland. Shipping to you is probably around $125 without me actually checking. Current lead times are 8-10 weeks. What's unique about our fill plates are the dimpled holes in the fill plates are small so no dog paws can get through them and stuck. Personally, I prefer the fill plates for kids. When the sliders get slick from rain or whatever, it doesn't take much to slip off of them when standing on the tubing.

So, let me get this straight, the optional step bars, nerf bars or running boards from the dealership aren't going to protect the rocker panels, will bend into the truck if hit and aren't as rugged as these sliders, miss that correct?

Also, does anyone know if the holes for these are pre-drilled? If I order my truck without steps at all, will I have holes in the frame where I can bolt these sliders?

Thank you for your quick response, you're on the short list, and being on the east side helps with shipping I'm sure.

If you order our sliders, you won't need to drill anything. We use holes that are already available in the frame.

The optional steps are not going to protect you from much more than a door ding. The reason is that those bolt to the body with only a few bolts, whereas the sliders bolt directly to the frame with a shit load of beefier bolts. Your truck will have the holes already there if you decide to go for steps instead of sliders.

Any need to move anything pre-existing underneath the truck? I've seen some mention they had to move brake lines but couldn't remember the brand. And, do you know if these holes come drilled from the factory?

The brake lines run down the inside of the frame on the drivers side. You don't really have to move them. You have to spread them to make room for the bolts to pass through. Hey are pretty flexible so you just have to gentle push them aside. I imagine those would be the case for all bolt on sliders of this style.

Well, I hate to be the bearing of bad news - but last month Mobtown did have a 20% off sale. I pulled the trigger on a pair a pair of sliders.

I got a first gen. Mobtown doesn't make sliders for first gens, so I have no need to feel shitty about the previous sale.

Shopping around, I noticed Relentless doesn't have a BOLT ON option for sliders. I'm not gonna get weld on sliders for multiple reasons. I can't weld for shit, I don't know a good welder, and I can't take them off if I needed to without messy cutting. Why is finding a good pair of bolt on sliders for a first gen so friggen hard?

The fill plates will definitely be safer for dogs and kids, I was a little worried a kid would get their leg caught in the open ones and really hurt themselves. I got the All Pro APEX with fill plates and according to my girlfriend they are "almost too high to be used as steps", but that's the price you pay for ground clearance... and she still uses them as steps, and they still help get her in the truck.

Another benefit to fill plates: when I first took my truck to the dirt, rocks were flinging everywhere pinging and tinging the body, fenders and door panels. With the fill plates this past weekend on the Mojave trail (120 miles off road) I didn't get a single rock thrown up into my doors... that alone made them worth every penny.

I've got the APEX too and love em. Agreed that they don't make the best steps, but they're sliders dammit!

x2 on everything you just said.

You might want to message Eric and ask him if they offer the bolt on even if its not on his website. He's an awesome guy to work with.

Thought about doing that but wasn't sure if it was a realistic idea. Won't hurt if I try though. :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, worst thing that can happen is he says they don't. He usually responds to PM's fast or their email is on his website.

What's everyone's favorite paint or coating to use on sliders? I'm not powder coating (didn't want the extra hassle of touching up inevitable scratches). I was thinking spray-on bed liner, but wasn't sure if that'd be a bitch to clean. -- I'm planning to spray on the first coating of primer today.
