    Hey guys

As promised I would post a thread with my write up on my Trail Gear sliders that I bought off of ebay. As you all know I bought them thinking they were powdercoated black but they weren't. They were just bare metal. So here are the before and after pictures with the steps I took.

    Step 1: Prep + Prime
I preped the metal with steel wool until they were smooth as butter. I dry clothed them from debris then tack clothed them to be sure nothing was on them. After that I used Acitone to clean the metal of any grease etc. Then I primed them with Krylon Rust Primer Grey.

    Step 2: Paint
After the primer stage I did one coat of the Duplicolor Bed Liner spray. I must say this stuff actually came out very nice. Be sure to do light coats to ensure it wont drip or bubble up and get ugly.

    Stage 3: Final Coat
Now after you get the first coat of the bed liner stuff on you can do your final coats and touch ups.

    Stage 4: Installation
I recommend welding them since the Gussets dont all sit perfectly flush. They sit and connect good enough to get a nice weld on every single side of them. But if you were to bolt I would assume it would make noise when flexing or going off road. The welding came out perfect I can hold my entire truck on one the jack without any bending or flexing. I also had to cut 1 bolt/rivet off each side to get the mounts to connect flush. What the heck are those pointless rivets for anyway? There's a ton on each side with no use IMO.

(not me welding it is my GF's brother-in-law helping me out.)

I will take a picture from a distance of them once its not raining out here. Hope this helps any of you guys out for future modding. :)

Great job....for those looking to do this........it doesn't hurt to put another coat of the bed liner. I did my tires with the same stuff after being scuffed up on rocks and i put 4 light coats on each tire. I only used 3 cans total at $9 a can (much cheaper than powdercoat) and after 6 months i am still ahppy with the results

    Again Great job

how much money did they refund you??

Wow Slim, I've been anticipating purchasing the same set even before you got yours. I'm really glad you documented and shared your experience with everyone. It has really motivated me to purchase a set. I will place my order tonight. Thanks again bro. :)

They refunded me my shipping charges which was $35.62 bucks. So it worked out nice because I spent around that much in getting these things finished.
I got them off of ebay for $249.95 with 25% off :)

looks nice, i think i may get a set when i have the money for em. they seem to be well made for a good price. i really like the way the spray on bedliner looks with the texture, kinda like a wrinkle powder coat but for a lot less money.
