    My Pelfreybilt bolt ons are stout. I trust them, and the connection to the frame. Mobtown has a really cool way of attaching their bolt ons.

    I'd have to agree with this more than just picking one particular vendor. Most out there will do the job and give you what you want.

    That being said, I'm in Hawaii and shipping sucks anyways. I'm rather picky and liked the look and bolt-on style of the Mobtown Offroads. Should be arriving to my island shortly.

    It's no different. This idea that weld-on is better than bolt-on is total bullshit. A 1/2" grade 8 bolt has a tensile strength of over 20,000 lbs and these sliders have 5-10 of them holding them on each side. And the shear forces don't even go through the bolt, they're transferred by friction between the mating surfaces provided by the bolt clamping force. Whether they're bolted or welded you're going to twist your frame before the slider-frame connection is compromised.

    also, when it comes time to sell or trade in your truck, you can take the bolt-on sliders off and sell separately.

    But they would be in sheer not tensile when the sliders are being used, just pointing that out. But that being said grade 8 has a great sheer strength as well and the way I have seen all these bolt on sliders being bolted on any one of them will work well.

    The way they bolt on, there really isn't much sheer force on the bolts. That said, mine are for "oh shit" moments. I don't abuse them.

    If they get used by a high lift or coming down on rocks they will be in sheer unless you are pulling the sliders away from the truck they won't be in tensile. The clamping force puts both sheer and tensile forces on the bolt, more tensile than sheer.

    Check out Stubbs Welding. I had mine welded on by a local muffler shop here in Nashville, Illinois. He did a great job and the price was under $100 for the welding.

    I figured it's my DD first so they needed to be most practical for that and I bought them at a time when I needed a good step to get in and out of the truck. They really help when loading stuff on the racks too.

    I'm not sure if I agree. I don't think the bolt should ever be in shear. Here's my thinking:

    You won't always just hit the outside bar, which is actually called a rub bar due to that's what it usually does. In your photo, there'd be no shear force, totally tensile. In reality, you could easily hit right next to the frame or the frame itself so that's where the shear force would come into play. Either way, quality grade 8 hardware with 8+ bolts on each side and you're GTG.
