Looking for the strongest sliders (can take a beating) that will also be useful as steps. And be functional car door blockers in a parking lot. Wanted some input from knowledgeable folks before I make a $ decision, or bad $ decision.

    Any advise?

Why do 20 degree sliders prevent door dings more than any other angle?

I disagree... Yes, I have BAMF 20° sliders, and they prevent door dings, but they're shit steps. 0° sliders would be better for steps and would also be better door ding protection.

Best method for reducing door dings, would be to stay away from the mall.

It would have been better if you phrased your question like “what zero degree sliders with a kickout and option for top plates are the strongest?” It makes it seem like you have already done a teeny bit of research as to what you wanted.

    Fair enough.

Yes, 0 degree sliders are flat, so they make better steps. I guess it depends on the curvature/shape of the door of the car you're parking next to on whether you should go 0 degree or 20 degree. Also, if your truck is lifted or not and the height of the car next to you. :notsure:

As said above, lots of options that meet your criteria.

I’ve been really happy with the quality from this shop.

Sometimes the "urban jungle" can be just that. I park all the way at the end of the lot on the rare occasion that I enter a dreaded mall. Never fails some a-hole will park right next to me even though the parking lot is half empty!

This is exactly what happened to me and how I got a door ding on my brand new 2020. Went to a strip mall to buy a new mattress (frame and all), parked in the very back of the parking lot, closest vehicle to mine had to be at least 100 feet away, and returned to the truck after purchase to see the damage. They left dents and white paint along the driver's side rear passenger door. Never saw who did it because they must have drove off immediately after to find a new parking spot.

I reconditioned my RCI sliders. Watch out for top plate. Scraping, sanding, prep, two coats of POR15 underneath, and several coats of the CRC marine coating. Repainted the tops as well. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have gotten top plate. I would have done my own painting as well. A really good epoxy primer is key I think. This is what RCI claims to use now. Also depending on the top plate design it can trap water along the edges so it needs to be encased in paint. The round tubes create tight spaces underneath where their powder coat did not do well. Bottom side traps everything so getting good paint and pushing it into the hard to reach edges underneath is key.

People suck. Two years ago I opened my door on a very windy day and a gust of wind tore the door from my hand and slammed it into a brand new Nisan Titan. HUGE dent/ding...... I felt horrible so I left a note on the truck. The guy called me later (laughing) he says; "I'm a painter, that truck is going to be a total mess in a month or so, don't worry about it".

I asked him what he drinks and got him a case of beer......AND I hired him to do some painting on a rental property I have.

They sure do. I would have been cool with it if they offered to pay for the PDR (since I still had all my paint, that's all I needed done). ~$150 in damages but they tucked in their tail and ran off. Likely uninsured driver and/or some other jackass.

Had me wondering what Jeep guys are doing about door dings.
I understand, just joking about after a few 6 beers. I, myself, at least want the pleasure of dinging my own truck.

My 20 degree sliders are a hindrance to getting in and out of my truck, but they have saved my rocker panels from enough carnage to pay for themselves.
