RockBlokz vs RekGen - I've had both - guess which one is superior?

Before I even took delivery of my TRD Pro, I ordered a set of RekGen mudflaps. Right off the bat I was disappointed. Terrible instructions and the spacers are just scraps of fuel line They are really stiff and my slightly more offset Pro wheels, with the stock tires rubbed in reverse over bumps. Mud and shmutz got behind the fronts. They looked okay, but just didn't feel like I got much for the $100 price tag.

    PXL_20201122_234301512.PORTRAIT-01.jpg

Then, I was given a set of RockBlokz for Christmas. The difference is significant. The material is more flexible and the shape of the fronts is far superior, easily clearing the tire. The hardware is stainless steel with well nuts mounting to the fronts the frame of the truck far more securely.

In short, if you are on the fence between these two products, the RockBlokz are far superior. While both are kind of a lot of money for what they are, in this guys humble opinion, the more expensive set is a much better value.

Edit: I'll get some better photos of the RockBlokz tomorrow.

Well, okay, yeah, thats fair. But Factory doesn't work well in every environment. They hold onto snow/ice and they crack in half if you roll over rocks, etc. They also don't provide adequate coverage if you go over stock tire sizes. Hence why people go with these.

I got an OR with a scoop. They'll never get to the flaps.

I got some rekgens recently and am NOT impressed either.

i got them for better tire clearance than the stock mud flaps and now i rub hard on the darn bolt head. I think i need to take the fronts off. And yeah the whole spacer thing is so stupidly designed

Here is a pic of the spacer and bolt head which i rub on in case anyone is curious. I would not recommend rekgens

Thanks for making this thread. I have a pair of rekgens and I think they suck. I wouldn’t recommend them. I was going to look into other options or put my stock back on until I found a better option.

Luckily I got them on a Black Friday sale because if I paid full price I would have been even more disappointed.

I got a set of the XL Rokblokz for my truck after my first trip off the road, on stock tires, when I noticed that the stock splash guards chewed up the fender flares when they moved. They also didn't really stop much from hitting the rocker panels or rear fenders. Unacceptable. When I upsized tires they rubbed the fronts on the inside part stock flaps and the Rokblokz have a provision for extra clearance for larger tires. I was hesitant on spending $200 CAD for some plastic but they work well and I like the look.

dont forget to look at the tufskinz flaps, you can order them in any width/length you like as well. and you can order them with or without the old school 4wd logo. their standard size is approx 11X15. i went with 11x18, to get more coverage.

I was seriously considering the RockBlokz for my truck, but their site includes this disclaimer:

(This kit does not currently work with the side exit exhaust on the TRD Pro, TRD Off Road and TRD Off Road Premium released in 2020.)

I'm guessing the oval exhaust tip may contact the flexible flap under certain conditions. Anyone have any experience with a TRD Pro and these mudflaps?

Not sure why it wouldn’t... there is about a 3”’gap to my factory mud flaps.

I went through a heavy debate on these two brands and decided to go oem after all. $100 is more than oem and the design is half assed for the price. I hated the non oem fit with the spacers.

guess what if the oems crack they are dirt cheap to replace.

the material on the others isn’t flexible enough to fold enough to make an actual difference. If true wheeling is an issue then just take em off right prior I suppose. No easy way out of this sitch, all brands compromise here

On my Pro for a year without issue.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of your frigged up fender flares from the OEM ones beating up on them. My Rokblokz have been folded flat when my truck was buried in the snow and they didn't deform at all. Strongly recommend!

I ripped two of the OEM mudflaps off the first weekend I bought the truck on a trail. The OEM mud flaps have no flex.
