Here’s 2000lbs of Rock in the bed of my first gen. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. I ruined my leaf springs, shocks, and it was to much load for the clutch and would slip. It rode on the bump stops the few miles to the dump.

Thank you for a sensible answer.
And the spot I’m going in to would not fit a trailer and a truck.
Plus I suffer from polio so trying to think of different solutions than carrying rock over and over using one leg.

The spot I’m going to, I couldn’t get a truck and trailer in. It’s an 8’ gate with a sharp turn.
I’m handicap with use of one leg, just trying to think of options.

I had almost 1800 pounds in my 2001 Dodge Dakota and drove it over 100 miles with no problems . Ii do recommend more air in the back tires and my front end was a little light but all good .

I have not loaded my taco up with that much but I suspect Toyota wouldn’t design a truck that would have a major meltdown after being driven 3 miles with a payload 33% greater than spec. However, if you got in an accident and they were able to prove you were over the vehicles limit, you could be in legal trouble.

I have had ~1200 pounds of wood in the back and it didn’t sweat, but I only had 30 yards to go. I’m only guesstimating the weight based on the fact that I lifted every log into the back myself.

The brake fluid will boil before the brakes catch fire. Been there...not fun
