Yeah, this year I took weight off the truck, added more power, and built a considerably lighter trailer. The 2,500 mile trip out there should be more enjoyable as well.

so I checked out reserving a spot at Kens Lake and it looks like there are only 2 "loops" (A and B). A houses like 50 ppl and B houses 25???

I am confused as to can you not reserve a singular campsite??? Both A and B loops were also already reserved 18-21 OCT. Is that something someone on here has already reserved a loop and we all collect there and pay the person that reserved it or is Kens Lake essentially off the table for camping during this???

If I missed something, feel free to call me out haha

EDIT: i also see BLM campgrounds just south of Kens Lake and East of Russo's. So I assume there is plenty of space and there is no issue finding a spot? In my ignorance, I guess I am worried about driving for 2 days and not having a spot to set up camp (probably dumb, but just never been out here before)

i can almost guarantee there will be spots at the main location...unless there is someone else who rolls in to that area before us and takes it over. but there's a lot of spots in that area

ken's is primarily first come first serve. the group sites are reservable, but a majority of the campground is non-reservable.

Is anyone else coming from L.A. thinking about going through Monument valley? I'm not sure I've got the time to do overlanding this year, but the I-40 route looks like it'd be more interesting than just another run up I-15 through Nevada.

Is there like a list of trails people are wanting to do on specific days? I can't do any of the more serious trails as my Tacoma is relatively stock. And I should be down there that Friday and Saturday.

there is no set schedule. moab is a favorite of so many people and on the bucket list for many more, so it's not hard to twist someone's arm to run a trail.

make sure you do your research (you being from UT, i'd imagine you are familiar already...but for those who aren't) and get a list going that you'd like to hit on this trip... https://www.trailsoffroad.com/map

post up your hit list and as more people do the same, trail run groups will start to form naturally... don't be afraid to match up with new people and meet new people.

the afternoon before, bounce around camp and see what people are running...another good way to build a trail run...

one request... KEEP TRAIL RUNS 10 TRUCKS OR LESS. this helps to keep the flow on the trail going and also preferred from BLM who manages most all trails in the area.

i typically search for trails i haven't run before, but there's many that i have zero problem re-running :D

just noticed this easy trail to an arch right next to camp... https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1261-tukuhnikivatz-arch

at some point i still have to run steel bender and metal masher...

and i have a lot more to see north of 313...

There's a chance I won't be going down as early as I had originally planned . Seeing how as no one else from my area has solid plans yet and no one can get as much time off as me.

On a completely different note. Those of you that know me know if you bring down a large selection of tools,. I will be putting the generator welder back on the list of tools I'm bringing down this year.

What you haven't run steel bender? Last year we ran it and we figured out how to make it over Widow Maker.

Thanks. I have an awesome book full of trails in Moab so I've got plenty of ideas. And I've been down there multiple times so I've done probably at least 10-15 trails down there. Can't wait!
